Injured Winchman at Valley

RAF winchman hurt in mast fall

An RAF rescue helicopter winchman has been injured on an exercise 15 miles off the north Wales coast.
The man, based at Valley on Anglesey, became snagged in the rigging of a fishing boat, and fell from the mast.

A second helicopter from Valley, with a paramedic on board, flew to the scene to treat him on board.

He was given painkillers before being transferred to a lifeboat and winched into the helicopter and flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

The helicopter had been on a routine exercise, lowering its winchman to the fishing boat, Sarah H. He was hurt when he fell to the deck from the mast. The winchman - a sergeant in his 20s - is not being named by the RAF.

He is said to be in a comfortable condition in hospital and his injuries are not described as serious.

>>>>>> Get well soon Buddy, speedy recovery.
