Sales to Sad Spotters

I can't believe what spotters will buy.

Check out this link for the perspex kneeboard inserts for a flying suit, 1 pair currently going for £6.50.

ebay - RAF perspex kneeboards

Anyone else managed to find gullable spotters and sell them rubbish ?

How do you know it's a spotter who wants them?

Just as possible it's a serving mate who has been down to the stores, found they've none, and then was told they'll be back in stock around the time of the next election.

Glider pilots and microlight pilots often wear growbags, which are usually sold surplus without the knee boards.

I can't believe that some people will trawl ebay looking for such items.

Hmmm... £12 + P+P. Why not just buy some perspex and cut to size? Hmmm..... that could be my new business venture

How old are your LJs?

Exclusive pair of white long johns, as issued to Royal Air Force Aircrew for cold weather flying. This pair have been worn by a real pilot several times, includes several interesting stains produced by the above.
Mine were issued to me in March 79, with the HMG ^ label showing they'd been made in 1952 - 7 years before I was born.

Still using them last winter out shooting on a cold day. Worth every penny of £7.83 I'd say.

I always have a look at peoples feedback, to see what they buy and sell.

Well, the winning bidder in this case is going to look damn good with those new kneeboards, in his flying suit, whilst flying his.........model aeroplane.

Better than a gimp suit I suppose ?

The winning bidder of the boards probably bought them to go with this grow bag - being sold by a seller in Northallerton - sounds like the seller is at the secret North Yorkshire airbase named after a lady news reader ...

The buyer will be wearing it when he flies this he also bought from the auction site:

for £400, 1:4 scale of course!

Edit: Helmut - great minds think and post alike ..

I remember cutting out the bullet holes from the banners at Chiv many moons ago and selling them on for 50p a go to the spotters during 'open' day. Used to sell like - well, bullet holes!

Provided enough for a few ales in the evening though!

A couple of months ago I did see a pilots front canopy and the main computer from of a Tonka for sale on ebay.

The canopy was described as 'perfect for a garden closh' and what the hell you could use a tonka computer for, God alone knows.

Now I know why we can't get spares for the jets, the techies are selling the aircraft off before Tony Bliars lot do

Yeah!

Airshows - set up a stall by the ac - sell out of date En Routes and charts, 50p each - took about 1500 - sold out on day 2 - all monies went to the RAFBF by the way - unlike John Peters and his mate who were posing nearby with their own Instamatic camera on a Tornado ladder, charging the kids £5 a shot, and pocketing the money.

For an ectra £3, they would sign their book for you.

Really p*ssed off the RAFBF, who quickly changed the rules about their sponsored airshows.

Wink

Don't knock the Spotters - they're your greatest fans.

In the days of steam, the engine drivers always hung out of their cabs and waved at you. I dunno why they always seemed to have lost two of their fingers though; it must have been a dangerous job.

If you were really lucky, the fireman would chuck a lump of coal at you...

I wouldn't knock E-Bay either. I got my last pair of flying gloves from E-bay as stores had run out. Only paid a fiver for them as well...dead chuffed .

Did I see you selling donut holes at the market the other day? Or ice cubes to some Eskimoes? There's a job with Sir Alan Sugar just waiting for you.
