I'm surprised there has been no comment on the fact that 54 and 16 sqns were disbanded yesterday.

Sad day, good parade from the lads on Friday even though it was bloody cold, nice families show today with Diamond 9, airfield attack and four-ships from 16 and 54. Static had 2 SHars, F-16, Torn, HS-125, Chinook, two Typhoons etc. Mick Jenning's cockpits in the hangar were outstanding as usual.

Todays events were pretty good too, even though there was a bitterly cold wind!! The diamond nine formation was very nice to see and it was an enjoyable day.
I would like to say though that the Jag may not be my favourite aircraft but it was a sad occasion to know that in 2 years time there will be no more jaguars and even sadder - no more Coltishall.

What was, or will be, the fate of the R30 and the museum? Not much I know, but it is all that remains of of Linesman/Mediator/SLEWC etc. Even if it didn't open very often.

All I know is that Mr Robb is fighting a rear-guard action to keep the museum open – perhaps as the station won't actually close (for a while) because of the need for NT to be available for links will mean they'll keep the museum running for a while - or perhaps pass it over to the IWM? Who knows?

No, it wasn't much of an end for Neat, but it was funny seeing the RAF Regiment chap give the halt on the wrong foot, thus completely ruining the effect.
The R30 is obviously still there, and I think Mr R is gradually trying to take over the rest of the Stn.

A rather senior officer who's flown both the cat and the tonka once said to me that, while the Tonka was better as a bomb platform, the cat won hands down as a fun plane to fly. Certainly the guys on the Wg seem to like her!
