To be taken with a pinch of salt, as was originally reported in the Sun

Must have been a Bluntie as we all know that those NCO Aircrew stripes come in a box of cornflakes.

Disgruntled Loadies occasionally do the same.

Just because you're to fat to get through AAITC, you need to go on a diet of sour grapes

Do I detect a slight hint of jealousy here?

Ha-har, a good one! Never mind the stripeless sergeants though, what about those pigeons of mass destruction?

When I tried to acquire some Sqn Ldr rank braid after getting my blue letter, I was told that stores didn't have any! On questioning this, I was told that the ever-efficient purple supply system near Bicester had decided "There was insufficient demand!" From the Army, hardly surprising! Forrtunately the stores bashers were able to locate some from elsewhere!

In the US, you just go into the uniform store and buy your insignia, miniatures and anything else you need...

Reminds me of a WW2 Fleet Air Arm ditty, a verse of which ran as follows:

“We joined this f*cking navy 'cos we thought it f*cking right,
We don't care if we fly or if we f*cking fight.
But what we do object to are those f*cking Ops Room t*ots,
Who sit there sewing stripes on at a rate of f*cking knots”.

Forrtunately the stores bashers were able to locate some from elsewhere!
Moss Bros, R.E.City or Gieves?
