Leeming / Leuchars to close
Sorry to aid fuel to the rumour flames (isn't that why we're here?) but I've heard it on good authority, in the guise of a semi official denial that one of the Northern fighter bases is to close as put of the latest budget cuts. Could it just be a re-birth of the usual rumours that come out at these times, or something more accurate. I can't imagine the powers-that-be getting rid of a handy airport so close to St Andrews - they'd have to drive to play promotion sticks and watch The Open next year. Mind you, unless the MOD wants to get rid of the Scottish bases before allowing Scotland to go fully independent from Whitehall?
