Thank you the RAF from the QM2 and QE2

We just had a great series of fly-byes from a Nimrod and a Hawk as QE2 and QM2 sail back from NY together. Well done St Mawgan thanks from everyone on both ships it was much appreciated by all aboard. Got some great pictures.

To the pilot of that back hawk: Did you see the photo helo on the far side of the QE2 as you flew over her? Were you meant to get that close?

QM 2 is a FBB (fecking big boat). Had a look at her when she was along side in Soton in Dec when the Frogs signed her off. Makes the Nimitz look like a Norfolk broads grockle tub!!

God bless the Big Boat! Doing sea trials on her would be like landing on the Isle of Wight.

Phots of the two shiny boats would be nice.

PS Shame we couldnt build her, had to let the runaway merchants with a penchant for bad breath do the deed.

Geek spotter bit....
Nimitz. Speed: 30+ Knots
Overall length: 1,092 feet
Overall width: 252 feet
Full load displacement: About 95,000 tons

QM 2. Speed: 30+ Knots
Overall length: 1132 feet
Overall width: 147.5 feet (Ok, cant lob a Tomcat on the Sun deck!)
Full load displacement: 150,000 (not including Fat American Tourist with camera collection)

Fecking big!

Thanks for that. In the meantime if anyone from 201 wants to PM me, I'd be pleased to email a copy.

PPRuNe Pop, much obliged. It was a murky day (probably not as murky as it looks).

If anyone has some photos from the Nimrod, it would be great to see them.
