New WIWOL Book

A new Lightning book by Stewart Scott just published is well worth a good read especially by WIWOLs. It is titled "English Electric Lightning Vol 2 - The Lightning Force" and is packed with details of the aircraft, weapons system, tactics and squadron histories from 1966 until the RAF rundown. With a foreword by George Black it contains many contributions from personnel of the period and more than a few war stories, anecdotes and pictures. Vol 1 was about the earlier years including design and prototype testing and is also well worth reading.

Both volumes are the work of an author who was a civilian admirer of the aircraft and his meticulous attention to detail and extensive research are remarkable considering that it was all done in addition to a full time job!
