"Incredibly, she flew on some rescue and training missions. Being a civilian on board, she would have invalidated the RAF’s insurance if there had been an accident."
What Insurance??!!
I agree, she needs to be sectioned!!

Whilst I was on exchange with the Luftwaffe we had a similar incident. The base (Leipheim) used to have a US A10 Sqn based there so there was a history of US bods about the place. About 3 Years after the US moved out and it reverted to being a German only base there appeared a Colonel Jones of the Judge Advocate General's Corps (US). He was allocated an office and a driver/bodyguard. The YEARS passed (3 to be exact) and he became quite the local celebrity - leading the town parade and attending mess functions as the guest of honour. Bear in mind that the base commander was only a Lt Col....
As I was completing my HO/TO with my predecessor I was told of this character 'cos he was the only other native English speaker on the base - he was on leave/duty in the states so I didn't meet him at that time.
He had, before he departed on leave, stated to the base cdr that he was going to be promoted to 1* when in the States and would return in about 1 month.
Base Cdr wondering what to do if he had a 1* on his base rang the German MoD and spoke to protocol, they spoke to Ramstein and got the details of the new General.... well actually they didn't the answer they got was "who the F#$% is Col Jones"
Much enquiries later they discovered that there was NO Col Jones serving in Europe with the JAG......
Gen Jones returned to Leipheim and was promptly arrested by the German Police.
It turns out that he was a retired German Policeman from Augsburg and had been charged with this sort of behaviour just before being encouraged to leave the Police on grounds of ill health. What's more he had been spending some of the week at home with wifeypoohs (totally unaware) and the rest of the time with his mistress in Leipheim (also unaware)....
I witnessed the arrest however, all was not sweetness and light 'cos the gate guard wouldn't let me on base for about 4 days until my bona fides had been checked thoroughly.....
My predecessor had sworn that the guy was a genuine spam.... bit of a red face although I feel lucky that my only encounter with Col Jones was as he was arrested....
Funny old world eh?

So, this was a Pte in the Territorial Army, with basic security clearance and a valid military ID (that would allow her legitimately to enter almost any military unit), fraudulently posing as an Army Capt. A minor criminal offence and a serious personnel management gaff, yes. "A shocking security disaster", bollox.
But then, people who read tabloids deserve to be lied to.

Let's not let reason spoil a brilliant story, it really brightened our day today.
My main concern is that the guys don't get in the pooh for not checking her ID closely enough!

Mum and Dad paid it, according to the $un, so it was probably someone else.
SirTH
You're absolutely right, great entertainment value. I doubt anyone will be in trouble regarding ID checks. I would guess she entered the Stn as what she was; an Army Pte, only adopting her inflated rank, once on unit. Besides, there's very little difference between an O's and an OR's MOD 90.

Wouldn't normally post here gentlemen, but I think I may be able to help (picture wise). A Google search for images of Kelsey McMillan came up with this:
