The Wrong Way Round
How do the services feel about taking on pilots who have already gone through civilian training to CPL/IR? Are the age limits the same? Would such people be exempt from some of the stages of training or would they have to go through in the same way as a recruit with no experience?

Don't know about age limits - carrers Information Office will. Training = same for everyone. Your experience will put you ahead of the field for about the first 10 trips, after that military flying is a whole new ball-game.

They were more than happy to take me, i passed the filter interview, but never made cranwell as i was subject to a rather vicious assault and i would not have been in training before 24.
So i would say no problem.
So i would say no problem.
I joined with 160 hrs on an FAA PPL/IR. Despite this I started from scratch at Elementary Flying Training.
After flying as a civilian, I realised I had picked up some bad habits! Such as an over-reliance on instruments when under VFR, poor & gash RT. Also the transfer from a rectangular circuit to a military oval circuit.
So to answer your question, having previous experience isn't a bad thing - it's just a matter of dropping the bad habits ASAP!
