DARA Job Cuts at St. Athan

Any comments on this anyone?

Heaven knows if this'll have any impact on Project Red Dragon.

Anyway, I thought the whole point of DARA was to remove this sort of servicing from the RAF and do it (more) centrally?

Somebody has pointed out the blindingly obvious fact that it was actually cheaper when the RAF did it than before the involvement of DARA, DERA et al. An ideal opportunity for the 2 remaining blue suits to shout "Told you so!" as they switch off the final light switch.

Now we know what all those ex SHAR engineers will be doing when the old bird is retired. Some will go to the Light Blue GR7/9 sqadrons and the rest will, along with the light blue boys released, be used to do the upgrade work that DARA were doing late and more expensively! Shame there isn't a supply of military boys to take over the other contractor jobs that are getting more and more expensive as the old ex military ready trained guys retire. The contract price has been rising as they struggle to recruit with their pityful wages based on people having a military pension! They are now having to train or pay a lot more to get the people they need. Shame the military always look ath short term savings. It's all coming home to roost.
