How big is yours............
A question, if I may.
I was talking at work t'other day and the subject of military transports came up (literally; a Herc. was taking off from Filton and went overhead at the time).
Anyeway the C130 was mentioned and the C17 at which point my mate asked what a C17 was. I described it as same sort of shape as a Hercules but with jets, not props (yes, I know the Hercules is turboprop; please don't shout at me, just trying to keep it simple), and a lot bigger.
How big?
Humungous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How would it compare to a Hercules?
I said if you took the wings and tail off a Hercules it would probably fit inside the C17, that sort of size.
Then I started wondering if it would fit. Anybody know?

<dons anorak, opens Janes>
According to the above tome (1993-94 edition to hand)
C-130 length overall = 1173 in
C-17 cargo bay length o/a = 1022 in (loadable length)
Width-wise, I think you could squeeze it in - C-17 cargo bay loadable width = 18 ft; C-130 width not given by Janes, but from other dimensions provided a rough guesstimate says it would be a tight fit (I think)
So nearly, but not quite!
<removes anorak, waits for incoming corrections to figures>
