Angel Military Recruiting set to be Cut

Scuse' me if you already know, but with the new Armed Forces White paper calling for a leaner military, aircrew recruitment is set for a down tunr. News I heard the other day was that all Fast Jet recruiting has reached it's qouta, and a backlog is already happening in the trg system. Multis and rotary are still slightly short of candidates, but his will level out in the next 3 months, and is also expected to show a glut of selected, but not wanted crews....! Lizzie dont want anymore!

I heard the same from a very reliable source. Does anyone know when they are going to actually start cutting the amount they are recruiting, any numbers?

Snoop

wait for the Defence White Paper to be published....in the next 3 months or so...It shouldn't stop you from applying if you want to...just remeber that the competition is going to be that much tougher, so you need to be the best you can be!

Why is it that the powers that be cannot use common sense when it comes to recruiting aircrew? Why not set a long term plan, rather than just reacting to current situations? It seems that the planners have been doing this for years, will they ever change!?

From on high - slow downsizing to 38000 by 2015, no redundancies, little or no FRI, immediate reduction in IPS target of 60. Ergo recruiting will be cut.

Admit to failed policies, and recruitment/retention problems or change goalposts in order that there is no problem.

Not the first time in recent years that this has happened. It will only work for so long before the Armed Forces are needed and there is nobody left to play.

April pay rise is going to be a downer after all that body armour that Hoone is bleating about is paid for.

Not that it matters much, for I still get paid less now then I did 3 years ago! .....and allowances are not the reason why!

SSAFA I need to feed the kids, get a move on!!

Wink

Best rumour I have heard is that the number of rear crew officers is to be reduced to 128 by 2012.
Seems a bit low but await the white paper with interest.

I hear the army are investigating the option of mothballing all their crews, along with the Apache....Think we may go the same route....! Right you lot...off to Shropshire!

It seems easier to plan for tomorrow (or this afternoon), and dramatically reduce intake, when the numbers start filling up. And then, in a few years, someone will notice that the force is low on numbers, and will attempt to boost recruiting numbers. Meanwhile, the training system takes a battering, and more instructors are needed, so they pull them out of the front-line spots, creating further problems. The latest civvy contracting firm at the flying schools reap rewards because they're being asked too much of (unlike the rewards they reap when too little is being asked of them was recruiting was reduced). The threat is today, not in the near (or far) future... or so the politicians tell us. God help us if we are ever asked to manage Microsoft, Virgin or Rover !!
