Yup,

Most significant line is the bit where it says

'we will have to decide when and how to reduce the number of fast jets'

Not if ...........

Reckon there'll be a few FJ mates learning how to fly Alberts and a few Albert mates learning how to flip burgers...

The outlook is bleak.

The RAF has no finances left due to it all being wasted on a bl@@dy television ad!!

I've read the White Paper and the 'Supporting Essays' (and a right riveting read they were, too...)

To be honest, there's no real substance or clear idea as to where we're going, other than the fact that we WILL be taking cuts...

Haven't seen the White Paper but the Minutes of evidence taken by the House of Commons Select Committee on Defence makes some illuminating reading. It's on the Web.

2003 White Paper [pdf]

& Supporting Essays [pdf]

To be honest, it isn't all that enlightening - changes and cuts will be drip fed out over the next 6-12 months.

Mayoral/European/Council Elections
Rise in interest rates
Entry to the euro argument
Handover in Iraq to interim government

Cheers Trail..me'old, The link comes up with adobe and such but keeps reporting a code error from the site..will keep trying though. BWaste of Space must be worried about the 'cut' in Euro****er..or rubbing their hands in expectance of either a contract payout for the MOD reneging on a contract, or a huge bung to support them when the going gets tough...probably both knowing Labour!!!!!

Devil

I suppose it'll probably go something like this:

1. Hoon resigns.
2. Hutton reports.
3. Cuts to 38,000 announced.
4. Hoon's replacement states "Don't blame me--I'm just delivering Mr Hoon's package".
5. Redundancy package announced (the legal statutary minimum naturally ie 1 weeks pay per year of service).

I hope I'm wrong!!

And it was all so good under the Tories Huey! Asl somone in the medical world (if there are any left!). If Government can't meet its contractiual commitment, then who can blame the contractor for seeking and winning compensation?
