TWO Belgian F-16 jets crashed on the ground during a military exercise Tuesday, and at least one of the pilots ejected, an army spokesman said.
The accident occurred in the region of Marche-en-Famenne in southern Belgium. The two aircraft were based at the Kleine Brogel military base in northeastern Belgium, he said.

Any further news on how this could have happened?

Both F16's collided in mid-air during a FAC (Forward Air Control) exercise together with Ground Forces east of Namur city. One pilot ejected and is slightly injured, the other perished in the accident.

According to a link on an enthusiasts' site, the jets were from 31 "Tiger" Sqn BAF at KB.
The report states that the CO of 31 Sqn BAF sadly died in the accident whilst the 20 year old Lieutenant flying the second aircraft managed to eject, as posted before.
