Who wants to join the grunts?

Am I glad I decided to become aircrew.

From the Mirror website comes this absolute classic video (warning for 56k'ers - big file - 27mb)

40 Regiment, Royal Artillery attempt to complete a beach landing

Daily Mirror

Awwww - he can't help it - someone else usually does that sort of thing for him!

Go to www.mirror.co.uk and see the 'exclusive' there.
'king funny and worth it even if it is a big file.

It's almost as funny as the Marines missing Gibraltar and invading Spain.

The question is, who was operating the video from shoreside and wouldn't they have known about the state of the beach?

Was it a set up?

It appears that the only way to discover that all wasn't as it appeared on that beach was to go walk thru the mud. Wonder if anyone (maybe the guy who "set up" the video) bothered?

That's known as reconaissance in some forces.

God bless the poor buggars in the mud. Been there, done that.

Long live amphibious reconnaissance.

(Friggin excellent video and you just know it made the training libraries of instructors around the world!)
