What ever happened to Chicago Beach Village? I grew up there and have always wanted to return to Dubai and work for Emirates. It sounds like things have changed and the 'golden era' is long gone.

Are these queries genuine? Most are queries on issues that with 5 minutes reading on the forum, all answers would be given in detail.

Pay, Housing, Education, Profit Sharing ???

Well try the EK recruitment site. Read the posts on Pprune. In fact read the very thread. All answers are there in graphic detail with pros and cons debated.

I suspect some of these queries are placed by managements to get recruitment threads to the top of the list and displace less savoury discussion.

There is a pattern here and not particularly opaque.

Revised Emirates interview

While I realize that many questions have been asked regarding the preparation for the EK interview and "being oneself" always floats to the top, does anyone have any knowledge what can be expected of the 'revised' interview process? I am particularly interested in the computerized aptitude test (compass???), how much weight is being put on it and how best to prepare for it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alex2002 7th March 2008 19:25

No furniture ********,u still interested?:ok:

You can't really prepare for it, but it is actually quite easy. It tests hand/eye coordination, reaction, multi tasking etc. So, you either have those or you don't... ;)

Don't sweat over it, just read the instructions carefully (There are 5 or 6 individual tests that make up the Compass Test portion) and make sure you understand them before you start the actual test.

For sure I was  joking dude !!

Lear60Dude 9th March 2008 17:10

I just got the email today for an interview in April. Kinda getting nervous as I am having a hard time getting the training department to send me training records from my last reccurent. Also still trying to get some logbook endorsement or flight log for the last couple of years from my current employer.
Even though I have read all the negative comments and positive comments I get the overall feeling that it is not a bad place overall.

overweight?!

Hi everybody!

I'm a little bit overweight, I'm not fat, but I have some extra kilos (typical brazilian body, boobs and butt)... do you think I have any chance or I just shouldn't waste my time (and money) traveling 400 km to go to the open day? I sent them an e-mail asking what were my chances and they said I could easily go to the next phase.
I'm confident about my personality and working experience, but the only thing that makes me stop and think about it are these damn kilos.

What do you thing guys???? Please help me!!!!!!! ;)

Quebecer 10th March 2008 03:15

Drama Queen,

Please visit the 'EK cabin crew' thread...me thinks you're not a pilot looking for a job as extra kilos would be the last thing on your mind.

Good luck...;)

Any truth to the rumour of basings being mentioned at interviews/ to new joiners (possibly a year away)?
X

menard 10th March 2008 08:29

If you want a job with EK, I don't think mentioning "basing" or "commuting" during the interview is advisable.

JetFO 10th March 2008 22:11

ifly, good post on EK interview.

For some reason not many people go into detail about what was asked at their EK interviews, i.e. compass test, psych, group problem solving, sim.

It would be real helpful if more guys gave details about their experiences.

ifly, any news on EK?

Single housing

I saw a link somewhere in these 70 pages for single FO housing once, but I can't seem to find it again. Could someone provide a current link and some background on where single FO's stay, what it is like, work out facilities, etc...... Appreciate it.

As for the above question.....
Aviationinterviews.com has gouge for the interview. You have to pay to get the good intel. Also, "Preparing for your Emirates Interview, a Pilots Guide", covers the whole interview process. It is in its 2nd edition, but I am sure someone else here can update you on whether it is updated enough and accurate enough to help for your studies.

Referees

Hi guys, i went to the interview on the 17th to 19th of February, had a group of 8 we all got trough the 3 days . At least 2 of the guys in my group had been checkout for their referees, my question is: can EK hire candidates without checking? or how long can they take ? or worst case scenario how long does it take for them to say you didn't made it
Thanks.

harry the cod 11th March 2008 18:22

You will not be offered employment until references have been checked. The time aspect all depends on how easy it is to contact these people. Good luck.

Harry
