6 Bells (RAK)

I was in the RAK version of the LGW 6 bells yesterday, and it is very sad looking. Not one real person trhere, just a few (male) russian tourists...

In another venuse not that far away, was talking to the new DO of Dana.

Also was advised that Dana are doing rather well in terms of charter now they have actually fired the Sales Bitch. The Drs exact words where get rid of her her NOW. It has taken two years and many heart aches, before any action was taken.
Perhaps the same will happen for RAK.

Do they have a Sales Bitch in RAK too  Looks like the Dane has a cleaning up job to do ;)

We're all staying tuned :)

Gulfstreamaviator 1st November 2009 04:10

according to the bar man at the 6 bells

RAK airways have a problem, with accomodation for the new intake of crews for the 737's.

Suddenly with the need for CC and FD, plus I suspect more management, there is not enough accomodation in RAK. (at a cheap enough price.)

I suggested the new Palavce Hotel, crew wing, but not considered very funny.

The GCAA have been digging deeply into RAK, and DANA.

Lastly there is no sales bitch in RAK, as they do no sales. His words not mine.

See you at the pool table. glf

No sale?

They do no sale, and 757 parked and dusty :ouch: May be they should do some sale

The latest hot rumour from the northern emirates is that the danish CEO is talking with danish Cimber-Sterling about a wet lease of 737NGs. Well, I rest my case

Last week we had the B757 A6-RKA transiting Dubai TMA & then off to land at OMRK!

Perhaps something serious is happening to have RAK Air up in the Air!

RAK Airways overhaul to give UAE new budget carrier
RAK Airways has turned focus to smaller aircraft with capacities of 100 to 120 seats.

By Sean Davidson on Monday, November 09, 2009

The UAE will get its third budget carrier shortly as the now-defunct RAK Airways readies for an overhaul, Emirates Business has learnt.

Ras Al Khaimah's carrier has turned focus to smaller aircraft with capacities of 100 to 120 seats and will look to replicate Sharjah-based Air Arabia's low-cost model, Oussama El Omari, Chief Executive of the emirate's free trade zone told this paper.

"The feasibility studies have been completed and the airline's restructuring is almost complete. It will not compete with the Emirates and Etihad but rather with Air Arabia,'' he said.

"The aim to is to target executives and economy passengers. The airline is being restructured to meet the market needs," Omari said.

The Ras Al Khaimah carrier was created by the emirate's government in 2005 and started operations at the end of 2007. The airline carried about 125,000 passengers in 2008 before suspending services in December due to difficulties with its aircraft.

It subsequently reduced its fleet size from three aircraft to one, and terminated its services to Dhaka, Colombo, Calicut and Chittagong. At the same time the airline also cut 60 jobs.

The airline also ran on a charter-only basis using its only aircraft, a Boeing 757-200. The cost of operating an airline with just one aircraft, besides logistics, was the key factor that forced the airline to terminate operations last year.

RAK Airways has been in negotiations for sometime with Boeing thereafter to lease and purchase up to four Boeing single-aisle 737 aircraft, according to industry sources. With these new aircraft, the airline is planning to launch services to new international destinations such as Brussels, Dusseldorf and Beirut as and when it restarts operations.

Besides, the airline has on order four new 737-800s worth Dh1.65 billion (Dh6.06bn), for delivery by 2011. Omari said the strategy would now be to acquire smaller capacity aircraft to suit a low cost model.

DANA

Dana has lost another Accountable Manager, the German, who failed the first time has failed again. (or is he Austrian.?). Still calls himself COO.

Captain Potty is now the Accountable manager...

What post does he hold in RAK Airways.?

Does he not realise that as a Hawker Pilot, and accountable manager, and SMS big cheese, he can not hold all these posts.

Never mind, all will change next week, I am sure.
