Obviously EK need pilots if not they wont be running all these road shows. But what surprise me is that while gulf and eithad (rumour) have uped the pay EK still remains the same. Lets face it, the reason we leave our home to go over to work in the middle east are firstly money and secondly lifestyle for ourself and our family. 550 pilots for next year wow. How are they going to achieve that without increasing the package is anyone guess. Maybe I am missing something.

EK is the best, the one and only airline(so we are lead to believe)!!!
(I've been told many times) It's a privilege to work for EK!!!
Everyones greatest desire should be to join EK (so the recruiters say)!!!
EK management are wonderful (they should know they tell each other enough!!)
EK believes its own PR (about all the above, hence they think hoards of people will start applying!!!)
The present package is a gift from on high that is world beating in every way (so they would have you believe)!!!

Trouble is that EK believes all this, the recruiters are afraid to admit they are struggling to get the numbers, the recruiters managers don't want to tell their bosses as they want promotion not the sack, so the head honchos think all is rosy so carry on buying aircraft (like new toys really) but the grass roots level are struggling to cope.

That's my personal outlook on the whole affair. Short term fix - a hugely increased package, to get the initial surge of guys with some experience coming in to fill the slots, long term they have to look at the big picture - pensions which have taken a big hit - giving us all a final salary scheme like the locals at EK already get would be great thanks and it would keep people here for the long term, also the old nugget of basings would get people flowing into EK and also again keep them here, letting people actually take their leave every year would be nice - I haven't had my whole leave for the past 3 years running. I could go on but that's enough to give you an idea of what is wrong here at Emirates..............:\

Just to let you know the HR department are being strangled themselves by Rick the Dick trying to look good.

They run at an absolute minimum or less.

Also they are not after promotion. They are leaving.

EK pay is crap compared to many other HR departments around Dubai, remembering that it's not only EK that are axpanding at a mind-boggling rate in this town.

It's hard enough for EK to keep and increase their HR staff let alone any other department, including operations/crewing.
