Polax,
You've done your homework and are correct on all counts. I can attest to that and you've summed it up nicely. What they sell you is lies. But people still come, so either things are worse elsewhere or guys believe the bs. Toolow |
Does anybody know how the roadshows did?
In europe tour should have finished |
I think about as well as Trump's healthcare plan....... :ugh::ugh:

You guys are keen to ensure that nobody considers employment with Emirates. Let me assure you that there are many thousands of experienced Pilots out there, like myself, who have looked carefully at Emirates and found the following unsatisfactory:
1. Salary/ Cost of living ratio (not particularly attractive compared to European Airlines) 2. Generally declining package 3. Unacceptable accommodation 4. Leave that is calculated fraudulently i.e. removing days off to give leave 5. Fraudulent calculation of flight hours 6. Generally poor safety practices with regard to fatigue and declining experience levels 7. Clearly poor labour relations 2. Yes but havent seen it decline over the last 2 years 3. 3 bedroom apartment with georgous view. Honestly, something I could nevver afford and perfect for newlyweds. 4. Have been getting 30-40 days each year and most of my preferences (I do not need peak so I dont bid for it) 5. Yes but have not been maxed out yet since joining (850 ish) 6. I'm 28 years old and yes after night turns im tired but not more tired than my previous experience in shorthaul 7. Welcome to the big leagues |

Had heard the recent Central European road show had 8 attendees and of those 8 only two were even qualified to apply... of those two, one of them just went to visit someone he knew on the recruitment team. So, only 1 qualified... and only 8 in attendance.
When will EK learn... RE-ASSESS, RE-ACTION, RE-MANAGE. They drill that into their crews quite a bit but simply don't follow it when it comes to having to keep up with the times of higher demand for pilots worldwide. K |

Hello guys,
I went to one of the roadshows in London, the 2 ladies were very nice but we were only 5 pilots there. I was very surprised!I expected 100 people at least! It's Europes biggest city! 2 Busdrivers, 1 TP guy and the last 2 I am not sure of their rides. They told us bus drivers that we are harder to recruit and will 100% get the 380. Sounded good to me but according to this forum its a lie? Can anybody in recruitment confirm? Regarding the Atpl, when you are offered a position with Emirates you will need to acquire full ATPL before joining. Either asking your employer or paying it yourself! Its only a sim check! ( You will need at least 270 PIC on any aircraft to be eligible for ATPL, EASA rules) You are allowed to apply with 1800 hours on Jet but will need to have 2000 before joining. So they are not flexible with the requirements! Also according to the ladies housing allowance is still offered to the new joiners. Regards |
Mate of mine from Australia joined last year in September. He had around 800hr on the A320...was given B777. That about sums it up
|
They told us bus drivers that we are harder to recruit and will 100% get the 380. Right now they desperately need people on the 777. A380 deliveries are being delayed right now because the aircraft is losing too much money and they were fat on crews there to begin with. |
You won't join on the 380, regardless of experience. Delayed deliveries and 60 trainers stood down each month combined with a shortage of 777 pilots means new recruits will go onto the Boeing.
If they're using the 380 as a carrot then changing you onto a 777 after moving to Dubai it's disgusting behaviour. Alan |

And in the nicest way, it took you until now to work this out? SOP at EK. Smoke and mirrors.
|
All low experienced FOs will join on the 777. If you have the required hours for the 380 I would be surprised if you were not put on it, as they can not find anyone with the requirements. 737 pilots were put on 380 courses recently. 6 380s are delayed this year, same deliveries are planed next year, and 6 extra in the following year.

Oh how things have changed....
A few years back some people were complaining because they were offered a 777 FO position but then switched last minute to the A330. I bet those guys must be so thankful now. I almost feel sorry for the people on those recruitment trips - must be so, so embarrassing for them but how on earth can you expect people to show up if nobody trusts what you are offering? Henry blames PPrune of course. As if all the pilots resigning from EK are doing so because they read PPrune and not because of what they're going through in their daily lives. |
People are still going to the 380 .
I imagine if you have 1500 in a bus you are set . Am not a fan of EK but truth is truth |

I met a new joiner recently who his starting on the 777. He has just come off the A320, which he's been flying for 4 years. He had command turboprop ATR time and second officer time on the 777, perhaps he wanted to get back on the Boeing. I didn't ask, not wanting to come across as nosey. Either way I have a feeling he's going to regret not going onto the 380.
|
If deliveries of 380s cease much earlier than planned and airframe retirements start in a few years time as already scheduled a new joiner is going to be FO for a very long time. I can see the newer 300ERs being retained and 777x replacing 380s. 777 will be the fleet to be on in the coming years.
