DEC REMOVED FROM EK PORTAL
What happened?
|
RTC...
Road to Command......my guess
|
When I saw the first part of the thread title and it said "DEC removed", I assumed a new joiner in the left seat had forgotten his hat or been photographed holding a cup of coffee whilst in uniform...
|
Odins,
That was the un-written policy of the former AS(s) (or was it (st)AS(i) ) who's Napoleonic syndrome was only outdone by his contempt for his own kind. As far as I'm concerned drink coffee out of your hat. |
I 2nd that. Nighttime or early morning, I do not fly without coffee, and not that horrible stuff they serve on the plane.
Get scolded? Just use your 'emirates' tie-matching mug you were issued by the company. |
Somebody higher up realised it cost too much money to ship DEC candidates on business class tickets to Dubai, pay for hotel, simulator and medical, fail them, then send them back.
Again and again and again. A complete waste of time and money for all involved. Why they have allowed this charade to go on for so long is beyond me. |
Removed because they got as many as they planned on. It was never a big number. Don't worry children the sky is still falling.
|
Got the quota. Regardless of how many applications they did or did not get. The hand full of 330 DECs will be on the 380 in a year. 777 DECs will enjoy there bidding position !
|
Fatbus there is no bidding position! For preference bids you have the same chance of getting the flight as anyone else in the bid group. The only place these guys will loses out is the single requests only in top two months and on staff travel. Anyway regardless 330 going = 777 guys will be getting curry more often for breakfast....
|
Was being sarcastic WRT to the DEC 777 bidding. Even in top bid month they will be forever( almost) at the bottom of their group.
|
Some or most of DEC assessments have been suspended.
|
In the HQ HR "service" place yesterday the group world site still showed DECs being sought on the careers page.
Also FOs with 10-20t, I think it was, background. |
Not sure what you guys are on about in this thread, but the DEC recruiting page is still up as per March 13th:
Requirements for the Position of Direct Entry Captain Requirements for the Position of Direct Entry Captain A minimum of 7000 hours total flying time (only front seat time on turboprop and/or turbojet aircraft can be counted). • A minimum of 3000 hours command time on multi-crew; multi-engine commercial jet aircraft with MTOW of 50 tonnes or more. Note: We do not accept simulator time for flying hours calculation. • Must hold a valid ICAO ATPL with an unrestricted class one medical certificate • English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension); must be at least equal to ICAO English level 5. • Must have flown as an aircraft commander on a jet meeting the mentioned criteria; within 12 months of joining • Type rated and experienced on a modern Boeing aircraft. Widebody experience is preferred. |
Not sure what you guys are on about in this thread, but the DEC recruiting page is still up as per March 13th: Requirements for the Position of Direct Entry Captain Sorry, but its not there anymore. If you go to the pilots section in the emirates group careers website it just have the vacancy for FO. Why is it not consistent across the website is a good question though. |
Most probably the link on the vacancy page has been removed but the page still excists when you enter the direct adres.

dec
The position is closed, I asked recruitment with a mail and they said that, unfortunately, the offer is no longer there for the moment but it will open again in the forseeable future.
Voices are saying that for every DEC they take, 3 FO's leave EK. Not completely true because nobody leaves EK without another good job. Truth is that they have no pilots and Ek is facing massive resignations form both Cpt and FO. Soon they will have not enough pilots to face the expansion... As said before they need people (that will stay in the right seat for 7 or more years) to replace the upgrading FO's... We'll see what happens.. |
Contrare
Well I think the massive shortage is something that's self created. With such poor working conditions nobody will think of coming over , but that being said there are plenty of pilots from India, Pakistan and other such countries that would like to join the ranks at EK.
P.S there was a issue faced a few years ago about fake pilots in the same region |
I wouldn't be to sure about the Indian and Pakistani pilots
I flew recently with a American (of Indian decent) FO who implied that the mindset of those guys wouldn't allow for the perceived failure in relation to their peers back home.....ie, washout in training and need to return, that somehow they would be considered "tainted goods" I hope I've explained in properly.....I was half asleep when we were talking. ;) he was a very switched on operator, BTW |
|
They're not recruiters. They host the link to Emirates career website which says the position is no longer available.
Relax... |
