Off.

Maybe one or two rest days as well and a couple of standbys also thrown in and then the flights on top to make up the month. Beauty is you can request up to 8 days off per month and if you can string them all in a row then do some swaps with other crew, I have seen people with sometimes 10 to 12 off in a row. That's not to say it's routine but it is possible.

Best I ever saw was a skipper who got the last eight of one month off, the first eight of the next month and was given another off as well. Swapped two flights and ended up with 20 days off in a row!! :D

20 days off in a row....lazy pilots stealing from the company......:yuk:

Yes it's not very big and doesn't go very far but I enjoy only working three to four days a week, having between 12 and 15 days off every month, coming home to cooked meals and sleeping with my beautiful girl every night. Just cos its bigger and shiny and could probably fly to the moon and back, doesn't make it an enviable job!!!

So it's not big, doesn't go far and works only 3 to 4 times a week with lots of time off in between and your beautiful girl doesn't have a problem with that? 😂😜

If any EK U.S.citizens/green card holders want to come to atlas...we are hiring a lot.

2 weeks off in a Row is normal. 30 days offs in a row not too difficult. Met some senior guys that got about 60 days off in a row...Jul/Aug.

Hope things improve sooner rather than later for u guys!

Would have to pass that online assessment 😱🔫

Atlas did have a very difficult online test...but I think it was easier than the EK interview process...as of Jan2015 the test is changed to normal U.S.ATP test questions. It is not difficult anymore.

Someone has mentioned it already but current pilot numbers required and time to command please?

Thanks

Would not recommend basing your decision on upgrade times. Upgrade now will depend on attrition . Example EK now @ 225 plan 250/280 by 2020/2025 ( 50 additional in the next 10 years) but possibly 500 to 1000 Capts retire in the same period.

Cover Drive 14th Nov 2015 00:53

Fatbus - roadshow reps here in Oz last week were selling a doubling of all numbers within next 5 years (fleet/pilots) and as such 4 years approx to command. Raised one of my eyebrows (a weird affliction I have when my bs filter fires up).

Seaman

Mate of my is a B777 F/O with BA, lives in DXB as had a spell at Fly Dubai LHS.
Was on 899 hours (1 short of the max) with his feet up at home. Got called in to do a LHR-CWL 45 min Mx flight.
They also work min base turns, swaps, east - west - east and vv, commute long distances then start to work (I accept to generate blocks of days off which isn't the case at EK)
But it goes to show the World has gone mad and Airlines and Pilots are their own worst enemies a lot of the time.

fatbus 15th Nov 2015 04:14

CD, before making a decision to come , research news articles the the airline president has said recently. Mainly fleet plan and the move to DWC. HR recruiters under extreme pressure to find pilot numbers.

Jungle drums say MAS dudes arriving at EK while on three years leave from MAS. Don't know how many. Reduced bond (yes I know drop) organised. Something for other new joiners to ask for as well perhaps.
