No, it's not a mistake.

They ARE calling people with frozen ATPLs.

That's not to say those guys with Frozen ATPLs are any less competent - but it's a fact of life that it will take longer to become established in the system as an 'Emirates quality' line pilot.... by that I mean a pilot who becomes comfortable with the extremely wide ranging theatre of operations rather than one who is superior quality in general.

Add to this the fact that most guys attempting the Command Course have no previous left-seat experience and it makes for an airline with very low experience base overall. Especially with the amount of Captains leaving at the moment.

Of course we have a set of robust SOPs and a strict automation policy - and that's all we need, right? Airbus even said so themselves when we bought the 380 that we were heading for all GLS autolands in the future. Mmmmm..

Emirates does not have a bond. You cannot find a single Emirates pilot who has fronted even one cent for his type endorsement.

I may have said this before.

Since some of you seem immune to this important distinction, why not track down a colleague with experience of working for Singapore. THAT is a bond.

Trader 18th Aug 2015 08:53

Dropp-- with all due respect it IS a bond. It is prorated and if you leave before the end date you are expected to pay the remaining portion.

BOND -an agreement with legal force, in particular:
synonyms: promise, pledge, vow, avowal, oath, word, word of honour, solemn word, guarantee, assurance; agreement, understanding, engagement, commitment, obligation, contract, pact, transaction, bargain, deal, settlement, covenant, compact, treaty, concordat, accord;

To which I reply:

We are all aware of the weaknesses and disappointments here but is unfair to confuse those seriously considering employment here: they are not required to front any money for their training and if they are honest with the company about their intentions there is zero risk of owing Emirates money at any point in their career.

Trader 18th Aug 2015 11:02

Dropp--which is why I posted the definition. Bond does not imply fronting the money. It requires the pilot to pay X amount should he/she leave.

PSP

Hi all,

I have a question. I read that people get invited to undergo the PSP in places other then Dubai. Is this random? I applied 2 weeks ago and got invited end of Sept to Dubai. 3000 NG hours...

Any clue why some go to Amsterdam or somewhere else?

Cheers

BANANASBANANAS 19th Aug 2015 09:27

Even Emirates calls it a training bond Dropp. At least, they do on my written contract with the company.

sluggums 19th Aug 2015 09:49

PSP's outside Dubai are done to make it more convenient for candidates to get to. It's only 1 day and it thins out the crowd prior to the rest of the selection process in Dubai.

There is absolutely no significance in whether EK ask you to attend selection in Dubai or anywhere else.

Hurry up will you, my rosters are consigning me to an early grave... But, bills have to be paid. What to do...

Same here just got the email telling me to await confirmation

If true, this has the Gnomes fingerprints all over it. He told me once during a 'lovely' appointment, I would like every pilot to have a BMI of 25 and not to drink.

I know he gas gone, however, .........?

Well apparently he's gone to the UK, so I wonder how he'll get on telling the locals there to lose weight and not drink. Good luck with that one :E

White Knight 31st Aug 2015 11:37

The guy was deluded.... I don't know many pilots who don't enjoy a keg or three! And I reckon my BMI has been north of 25 since I was about 14 years old!

That's why I do my medicals with the more portly docs....

As for the CDT - been there and got the T-shirt. All I can say is you've got to be a serious lush to get flagged on that...

SOPS 31st Aug 2015 12:32

He was definitely on a mission...that in the end failed, but trust me, he caused a lot of unnecessary heartache for a few people along the way.

Hi guys,

Today I got an email from EK saying that i have been place in the shortlist pool, then in the email they gave an explanation saying that whenever they need candidates for the interview they will get them from there.

Anyone else with this email??

At least they give a contact email, however they made it clear that no indication of likely interview dates or other info like that will be given.

For info, 6100 hours ATR, training captain.

Has anyone tried this :
Emirates (EK) Pilot Interview and Assessment-Latest Pilot Jobs-Latest Pilot Jobs

latestpilotjobs EK

Yes. It's excellent. Includes a forum. I'd recommend the 3 month subscription. I purchased the 1 month for PSP 1 after EK contacted me and we scheduled the sim event. However, I got invited to continue with PSP 2 and had to purchase another subscription :}

Summit to Sea 8th Sep 2015 07:45

I just applied to EK and got the rejection email.

Requirements for FO's on the website says:
English Level 4
ICAO ATPL

My hours are:
2300TT
1300 Jet (small citations)
English Level 6
ICAO ATPL

The rejection email said that EK's requirements are:
A minimum of 4000 hours total flying time including 2000 hrs on multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft.
- OR -
2500 hrs on modern EFIS multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft with a MTOW of greater than 30T

What exactly is going on then? Do they have unwritten minimum requirements? or a problem with there computer generated review process?

I dont know if this is a good sign or not, neverless. Can i ask you, how you prepare yourself for the assessment?

you can also write me a email.

;-)

Mystico 9th Sep 2015 12:34

Hi guys.

During the assessment. Do you get a RBI or a RMI for the spatial awareness test. Skytest does the tests with a RMI and Latest pilot jobs uses a RBI so I'm just wondering
