EY flight diverts to KWI
EY543 to DAM has diverted today to KWI due to a passenger carrying a tank of kerosene on board the aircraft! the tank started spilling and the smell of gas was filling the cabin!
This shows how security in airports is being implemented! nice one AUH!!!! :D |

Love it..........but its ok , its allowed this time of year as long as its less than 25 litres..........Manuals almost state that they are only valid for 11 months........Sure it wasn't the bad breath ?

Imagine what gets loaded onto the A332F freighter as dangerous goods:E. Heard it doesn't even have a load master!

the loadmaster is not the only thing we miss in the frighter flights! Yday A33F diverted to FRA because we dont have AWO aproval to perform CAT II in HHN and on final HHN was operating CATIII :{ flight got delayed 10 hrs for crew limitation...:ugh: |
:hmm: Sounds fishy to me...at least the reason you mentioned.
If aircraft is CATIII capable and approved and we have a CATII chart on board for HHN, what else do you need? Chart on board usually means that the runway has been approved for corresponding AWO from Etihad's POV. Crew are definitely qualified and A/C should be at least CATII approved (not 100% sure though). How about we're only CATII approved in HHN and that day it was CATIII conditions...? In that case diversion would be inevitable...Just an educated guess... |

However it is not only about the qualification of the crew or the equipment o/b the aircraft that allows you to shoot an aproach! state authorities can ammend normal procedures and restrict them for specific carriers (see US Ops Specs for EY) this because they want to keep a safaty margin for carriers that are not very familiar with specific airfields (like HHN). And yes in this case also CATII would have meant diversion for EY :ok: |
No action against the passenger
The passenger who carried a quantity of PETROL based product on board, was permitted to continue his journey on board, (perhaps with his flamable hand baggage), no police or security action. He must have a BIG brother.
In light of the DXB UPS, I was surprised that the company were disapointed at the diversion, as there was no actual fire. NO PAN or MAYDAY. I understand that the crew are being considered for disipinary action for a possible breach of FTL....... glf |
GLF - where did you get the info the company are dissappointed?
I remember a similar incident happening on a Ryanair flight from Rome a number of years ago. I can't remember the exact details but I seem to recall the couple of paddy's responsible got some jail time for endangering the aircraft. I think the company also got a bit of grief for allowing them to get it on board. Perhaps the crew should enlighten the company to how seriously other aviation authorities would view this. I find it difficult to believe that EY would disciplne the crew for the diversion as it is clearly a safety issue. However if the guys subsequently busted some FTL's, mistakenly thinking they "were doing the right thing" that is a seperate issue. A company may well encourage you to break or bend a rule, but if you do, you will get no support from anyone if busted. Always Cover Your A$$ |
Not sure where the idea has come from that EY are not employing Loadmasters on the A330-200F? I have met 6 guys who have been employed by EY as Loadmasters on this lovely new aircraft so it seems that as usual on here comment is being made without any real knowledge.

Freighter Diversion
A330F probably diverted because the office jocks did not secure CatII or III approval. EY approval for Germany specifies FRA and MUC

You are right, the 330F doesn't have a loadmaster. It has two and an engineer.

re the a/c diverting to Kwi its Eid now but give it a day or two and when GCAA see this i hope these boys have lots of spare cash cos i feel the fine is going to be very heavy and EY will not give one cent towards it this went beyond the 3 hrs max OUCH !! S.L. |
