ED@EK

It has come to our attention that Captain Email himself has not paid his fair share of US taxes. As many of you know turning in a tax cheat is worth some reward money from the IRS.
It is easy enough to get our esteemed leaders Georgia address but what we need is his social secrutiy number. I know this is very difficult to obtain and very personal but I can't think of a better departing gift to the man who gave us so much.
The 14 weeks bonus from two years ago as well as his bonus from this year were not accounted for in full. We believe he got four weeks bonus this year when the working pilots at Emirates received nothing. I should not say nothing when we got our pay cut as well as lost of our ALT.
So this will be a double whammy for long haul ED. After he was fired from Emirates he will now have to pay back taxes, fines and penalties with interest. It could not happen to a better "man."
Feel free to publish his number here or PM me. Thanks for all of your help and keep thinking we only have 4 more months of the Arsehole.

The 14 week profit share does not even come close to what he will need to pay for taxes on bonuses

You guys are some mean f:mad:s!!
I love it:ok:

typhoonpilot 1st Nov 2009 10:16

Bad idea. :=

It would draw the IRS's attention to all Americans working at EK and could have some very bad repercussions for your fellow American pilots.

C'mon Typhoon, take a bullet for the team...

TP, perhaps you should give the IRS more credit. I would guess they know all about US pilots working at places like EK because it's their job to know things like this and they're probably good at it.

It wouldn't help your cause, though, when fellow Americans like your very own Captain America put themselves in paid articles like this one:

He says pilots are "treated with respect in this part of the world. We're driven to work. We're put in four- and five-star hotels, on the concierge floors. Captains are treated as vice presidents of the organization."

typhoonpilot 1st Nov 2009 12:39

Most of us cringed when that came out as well........and it has had repercussions.

I have no love lost for Ed, but I don't think being a rat for the government is the way to punish him. That's assuming the first poster's information is correct to begin with.

Be careful, Karma has a strange way of catching up with all of us.......

southflyer 1st Nov 2009 17:28

...nothing to hide, nothing to fear....

kiwi 1st Nov 2009 19:52

About time Karma caught up with a number of those in the high towers of EK. What they did to the F/O under training in the MAN incident alone deserves somthing like this.

puff m'call 2nd Nov 2009 08:53

Spare a thought for the Training Captain on the MAN flight as well, yes it was a cock up, but at no time was safety compromised.

They were made a example of because of what happened at MEL. :ugh:

We all have AAR to thank for that.

That man needs to go. :E

Fred Garvin M.P. 2nd Nov 2009 11:19

Southflyer, it's not about hiding for the rest of the US pilots, it's about how the IRS is currently trying to define what is the meaning of being outside of the US and how they define what international waters are. The more time they spend looking over here, the more it puts into jeopardy the tax free status of time away from the US.

southflyer 2nd Nov 2009 12:50

Fred,

The IRS is not "trying" to define the meaning of being outside the US or not. The have their definitions set in stone and have an all out effort to target all flight crews in the US and outside the US. Being outside for the presence test or the bonafide resident test is one thing. Being outside for determining the source of your income is a completely different issue. Even at the state level the efforts have started; California and Kentucky are vigorously trying to tax air crews that are based and/or fly over their territory for state income tax.

The hiding comment is directed toward reporting all your income, regardless of source or type; if you don't, and the IRS comes after you, you will be wide open for penalties, back taxes, and perhaps a visit to the can. If you have reported all your income and get audited, even with the bogus "international waters" issue, chances are you will owe nothing back, there are simple ways to beat the IRS at their game, just takes a little effort and a big cup of coffee. Been there done that.

Only thing that might help is if you voted for the current guy in office; socialist democrats get a pass on the tax cheating...

CAYNINE 2nd Nov 2009 13:27

If I had the number I would get Fed Ex to courier it directly to the IRS, nothing bar nothing is good enough payment for 2 years of this idiot, his lies and combatant, beligerant methods and attitudes especially to F/O's who are just trying to stay out of the spotlight and have a decent chance of a career.

Thazright 2nd Nov 2009 20:42

you einsteins could not report an errant fart to the IRS lest a tax evader... what u know about the IRS would get you arrested. get real and work on being better pilots... it's what u do best (according to the std deviation curve, lol)

you einsteins could not report an errant fart to the IRS lest a tax evader...
LOL, probably correct.
In addition, US tax laws are quite useful vis-a-vis foreign earned income, all you need is a very good CPA to carefully prepare your tax return every year and use the system to its best advantage.
Been doing this for over thirty five years...and counting.
It is generally those that are not familiar with the internal revenue code that usually **** up.
Also, those perhaps considering slipping the IRS information about a particular individual, open themselves up to a rather detailed audit, if they are US citizens.

Which brings us back to original quote...

you einsteins could not report an errant fart to the IRS lest a tax evader...

Alconguin Crusader 7th Nov 2009 17:47

Thanks to the two pilots who PM me about how to get ED S.S number. I tried and that did not work. We will keep on trying to stick it to the arsehole who sticks it so hard to us everyday.
Since Long Haul ED gets twice the bonus of 14 weeks that is some tax bill he failed to metion to the IRS. He also tried to slide under the radar on his bonus this year that he will probably fail to report. Don't worry ED we have your back! IRS alert

helen-damnation 7th Nov 2009 18:26

that is some tax bill he failed to metion to the IRS
How do you know he failed to mention it to the IRS :hmm:

Get a life :ugh:

NG_Kaptain 7th Nov 2009 20:04

I dont work for EK and , except for what I see here, I don't know Ed, but careful on what can of worms you open. US citizen are the of the only, or very few, groups that have to pay taxes in their home country when working overseas. This has the chance to have the microscope put on the rest of the US nationals working in the UAE.

ugwhatajob 8th Nov 2009 01:11

Pilots/Aviators/?Professionals?/O' weary ones...

We are one of the few groups that will "cut off our noses to spite our faces".

Hopefully you are not taking too much of your precious personal time with friends and family to focus on this. It is not healthy.

Best to you and yours, I hope after he's gone Karma's long reach catches up with him, but don't make it at your or other's expense....please. The world is full of makeshift managers. Too bad that usually the replacements make us all long for the "good ole' days" eventually.:(
