We have not forgotten and, oh yes, it is different.

Many came here for a job they lost up north. Many came for the better money, some even for the adventure. But all of us came with a clearly conceived contract we signed.
As this region has set out pretending to join the civilised world, i.e. they want to join the WTO, they pretend to adhere to JAA rules, they regularly whinge about latent racism on their behalf if a ME company is involved (DP World) and so forth, we all strongly believed that a contract here would be what it is in the civilised world.

Now just guess why we are complaining and warning future wannabees!

Up north you can contest a broken contract in court. You can contest a arbitrary sacking in court. You have rights, even versus the likes of MOL.
Down here you are exposed to blatant dictatorship.

Even if the job is still quite good here, even if the job was not as good up north, we had rights there.

Here we don't, that's the difference.

What applies to Emirates does not necessarily apply to Etihad. This thread is after all supposedly about Etihad and if its the new Qatar not how useless the Emirates contracts are.

Looks as though I should count myself lucky then for being happy in Etihad. Great bunch of people, fun cabin crew and social life. Although it still feels like posting anything positive in here is almost a sin.

That's right, it's bot the worst place to be at the moment, the thing is that EY had the opportunity to set the standards as Cathay used to do in the 80's.
Everybody wanted to be in Cathay PAcific in these days, coz their people were well treated and respected.
EY lost it, just as QR does and EK is now.
People want to join EY coz they are out of job, not by choice. That makes a difference, and a huge one.

Coming back to the topic, EY is already another QR, insane disciplinary actions, lousy accomodations, breach of contract, rostering pressure , poor planning, cheap management.:ugh:

What else...... a nespresso machine onboard.....

Most of the cabin crew are nice, which is a major difference with QR, but management will come onto them as well, it's just a matter of time.
