New housing policy in Qatarairways?

Any inside on this one?
It`s supposed to be presented in June according to that ACN from Jan, right?

shneidertrophy 16th May 2009 15:39

Which new housing policy?

The one where, if you want to move into company accomodation, you have to pay the company extra because the allowance is 12000qar and the house rent they pay is 15000qar?

Or is the one whereby everybody will be forced to live in company accomdation, no matter what? In this case, what would happen to the furniture allowance they paid us two years ago? Would we have to refund that? What about the fact that most people in own housing are happy there, their families are happy....

Or is it the policy whereby you would have to submit your rent contract, the company would pay the amount stated on the contract but this would be capped to a maximum amount of 10000QAr?

Or is it the one whereby our basic salary would be increased, but the rental allowance decreased so the guys in company housing would bebefit and the others would loose?

Whatever our Human remains dept is planning, it can not be good! We all know miss R.F. loves EK management and hates pilots, so she might follow the EK policy of the moment! No more housing allowance when you opt to live outside!

I hope she does that....and I hope she did the calculation of how many pilots would leave in case she does that...and I hope she did the cost-calculation for her little project as well!

Intresting times ahead I would say!

By the way, did all of you know that we have been paid less than what was agreed upon in our last new package deal. While we all have to pay back the little amount they paid too much during days off in outstation!!!!!, we have been deprived of our telephone allowance and, in many cases, our annual salary increment.

It is time they stopped breaching our contract on a regular bases. We lost already our overtime pay while it is still there in our contract (and new joiners still are being told it is there), allowances are stopped, HOTAC is being degraded, schedule promises are being broken ....:ugh:

loc22550 16th May 2009 16:35

-Lets not even talk about 320 special allowance...long time it's gone now.

-Days off "down the route allowance" cancelled WITHOUT ANY notice to crew so far...!!!(salary decrease). Most of us have learnt the news through PPRUNE...:ugh:

-To be honest Schneider, right they never paid 105QR/hour for senior F/O, but they used to paiy us(don't known if still there), a special allowance:1000QR/month instead !
- where i have serious doubt is for salary increase after 4 years in respective grade. There isn't !!
BuT IMHO, according the table they released during the latest increase, more than 2 years now.. we should.
Quote:
"Flight deck crew, who has completed 4 years or more in the respecticve grades will receive the Basic as shown against 4+ years. ANNUAL INCREASE OF 3% will be effected henceforth for each year of completion of services..."

So what should we understand.....???

intaomri 16th May 2009 16:52

Another unfair thing

Some of us signed four ( 4 ) years training bond in2007. In 2008 it was reduced to 3 years for those joined that year and we are stuck with it and they would not make it 3 years for all of us. The future does not hold anything promising for the pilots in QR.

shneidertrophy 16th May 2009 18:41

1000QR was for IRP. Not all senior FOS are IRP. However, if you look at the agreement of the new package a senior FO should be paid according to the FD05 salary scale which is 105QR/hr.

On top of that the IRPs should get the allowance.

After 5 years I think your salary increase should revert to 3% PA. Before that and FO goes from 18000QR to 22000QR basic over 5 years, a captain should go from 26000 to 30000. Thereafter the 3% rule comes in place according to my piece of paper.

loc22550 17th May 2009 03:50

Keep dreaming..,3% annual increase after 4+...:=Well thats the paper indeed... just ask couple of captains who have here more than 6..7+ years (as a captain), their basic is 29830...wich is the 4+ basic salary,THAT'S IT my friend; with NO annual increase anymore after that.
Doesn't make sense at all to me,but i'm afraid that's how it is in Q.R today.

cochise 17th May 2009 22:06

So what you're saying is that they signed a contract stating that this was their increase in salary per year and that has not been fulfilled?
This doesn't seem like something that people would stay quiet about.

loc22550 18th May 2009 04:42

It's not on our contract for most of us i guess, but on the latest salary package table released 2 years ago..
As i mentioned "days off down route" payment is also on this table and is part of our salary package , BUT some unprofessional/careless people in the office have simply decided one day to take it out without even advising the crew!!
You can see the level of honesty/loyalty we have here...

QR zig zag HR

True senior F/Os where never payed 105 /h which was told on CEO meeting and as well senior Capt if they apply fro villa where told to top up 2000 rials for villa if they want to get it while on CEOs meeting was told it will be given by senority ( after some time its given only to new pilots)
1 more good news is no more villa fro new Captians jojning from India and Singapore ( good they will not come and one which come will see 1 y senior Capt having 4 bedroom villa )
Lets see how many pilots run away this month ? Last month was only 6

shneidertrophy 18th May 2009 19:06

So I see miss R.F. is doing her business as usual anyway...

Makes you wonder how she ended up in HR!

cleared to land 18th May 2009 20:40

Things are going from bad to worse with housing. Qr rented the cheapest built compound, but that is not enough. they dont want to pay for the whole place so there will be non qr people living there. And after removing the option to move out from company accomodation it looks more and more like a plot to make pilots feel as miserable as possible. Good job miss R.F.:D

Fubaliera 18th May 2009 21:08

If these Capt arent getting villas were are they gonna stay. Are they gonna start paying allowance again

QR UNITED 2009 19th May 2009 22:23

QR

Apartment why not ? In SIN or India aslo they live in apartment well they are just drivers arent they ? I learn this from 9 floor.

viewpoint 19th May 2009 22:46

All the above are correct, but the bottom of this is if we dont have support from our superiors , nothing its going to happen, they are the ones to have the responsability for bring this isues to the 9 floor.

loc22550 20th May 2009 03:29

"..new captains joining from india and singapore..."
Ooops..let's wait.., heard a lot of them(singaporian) turned down the offer already...:}

CDRW 20th May 2009 04:59

Heard gossip that quite a few SQ "released" pilots had there first week in Qatar in what was not promised accommodation - informed HR that they will give it another week or they will be off!!! Any news about that?

Transition Level 20th May 2009 05:54

If all the rumors are true it will all translate into a very bad start for the relationship between QR and the new pilots. New joiners may take any accommodation they are given as they need the job, but as soon as things improve they will leave. The honeymoon will be over even before the marriage is consummated.

If Qatar Airways wants to keep these pilots for a long time they must find a solution to the housing problem as soon as possible, of course most probably they don't.

shneidertrophy 20th May 2009 07:02

As long as HR, with the support of the man at the top, continues to look at pilots as "drivers only" nothing will change.

R.F. hates our guts, the others do not like us...We are there because they need us to have their planes flying, otherwise none of us would be even looked at!

They have become extremely snobbish these days, due to the fact that we actually have the number of pilots required at the moment. At least on paper that is!

What they do not seem to be realising is that most of these new guys have lots of experience in major world airlines. These guys will leave QR at the snap of a finger as soon as an opportunity opens up elsewhere if our T/Cs do not change very rapidly!

The usual short term vision of QR might end up presenting them a HUGE bill by the end of this year! They have been warned by A.K. but they turned deaf and blind, so lets see what happens now.

They will NEVER learn!:ugh:

Suitable accommodation

Hi guys,

Whats the latest, its upsetting to read all of these posts, and to top it up an email from HR stating that no Villas are available atr moment and will be offered a 3 BR spacious apartment.

My question is
1.Where are these apartments
2.what is the standard of these
3.Will they be fully or semi furnished
4.Will Villas become available to Cpt's later on? if so approx how long for wait?
5.If we decide not to take up the apartment accommodation offered, can one expect to receive the allowance and then find own accomodation in DOH.

Hope things do improve?

Feel free to PM me if you like.

Thanks!!

Housing provided by Qatar Airways

I am due to start with Qatar Airways in a few months and during the road shows held by Qatar Airways in Singapore, we were all told that Captains would be provided with a Villa's on arrival, unfortunately all of pilots in Singapore who are intending to join have been hearing some feed back and rumours over the last few days that this might not be the case, and that there is some housing promblems. This is leaving a lot of us concerned, and now are reconsidering wether to make the move or not to Qatar. I would appreciate if somebody could give us the true picture on the provided Captains housing for new arrivals over next few months. Thanks
