Mow 23rd May 2008 18:18

GF meeting on 27

What is Mr. CCD going to announce? :ooh:

or maybe new arrival dates for the 321? or, 15 A320? or, 3 A319? or, 4 A340-600? :=

Does that need a meeting? :E

Not too small 23rd May 2008 18:33

It would make sense because of CPT nasser memo about the command training for all F/Os .

stefan1138 23rd May 2008 19:36

Are those the current aircraft rumours?

Che Guevara 23rd May 2008 20:03

Mow,
I think you forgot to mention the 330s also.....;)

40&80 23rd May 2008 20:59

Not another bloody meeting!

Mephistopheles 24th May 2008 10:27

I suppose I might pass by whilst I am dropping off my uniform to the laundry. At least we'll get some samboosas & pepsi. I think that's all we can expect from them. Or maybe Naff & co. will show us some candid photos of the F1/Simply Dead BD1.3 million party!

Not too small 24th May 2008 12:13

bring your ID plus copy of passport plus last three pages of logbook plus a pen to sign a bond for command or transfer to the 321 or 787.

LUCKY PILOTS THAT CAN MAKE THE MEETING.

Sal-e 24th May 2008 14:13

It is refreshing that GF pilots are so "happy" that they don't see the need for "another" meeting.
The fact of the matter is that although resignations were stemmed to a trickle at first, it's started picking up pace again to the point that expansion and refleeting plans will be put at risk.
I think the aim of this meeting is to instil confidence to the pilot group with announcements of refleeting and upgrades. The last thing the pilot group would like to see is DEC and unless GF manages to prevent pilots from leaving, this may well be the dark option.

TZZ 24th May 2008 23:41

yalla inshallah they will upgrade the seniors and also hire us nationals as second officer.

DesertHawk 25th May 2008 03:44

new rumour....more planes and pay increase!!!! lol

Panama Jack 25th May 2008 06:48

I don't get it.

People are left in the dark . . . and they complain.
Regular info-meetings are held . . . and they still complain.

Or is it that we wouldn't be happy if we had nothing to complain about? :E

radron1 25th May 2008 07:14

Re Captain Rad Gammage

l am so glad that some of you pilots are happy, beware,it is with utter disbelief that l am still fighting GF for Rads Sept salary etc Naff cannot even reply to me and whoever Christopher Duke Cain is????he wants to know who l am and what do l want..After giving 33 years of his life to this company and myself also 10 yrs l now realise you are a name and number.Rad would not be suprised no doubt.........

Capt Hair Y Balls 25th May 2008 09:11

Ronny I would write a nice letter to the GDN and expose those low lives we call management and their pittiful practices.

Who are they trying to fool that they don't know who Rad or you are?

Bloody disgrace the lot of them

ex desert dweller 25th May 2008 09:21

Lack of Action

I don't suppose your conscience's were affected when you boast about your BD1.3 million F1 party with Captain Rad Gammages affairs still outstanding within your Company.
Let's hope none of you find yourselves in Roni's situation. How pleased I am to be an "EX DESERT DWELLER"

Shame on you

mkdar 25th May 2008 09:45

DesertHawk

Sorry to wipe that laugh off your face but, yes, more aircrafts and a pay rise is heading our way. or, so the Rumor has it.
I understand that the pay rise is to keep the Omani pilots from leaving.

:)

skywaytoheaven 25th May 2008 11:41

No such word as 'aircrafts', just aircraft. Wasn't it air arabia that put up billboards all over Bahrain advertising their new lovely 'aircrafts.'

ba7rain 26th May 2008 16:23

i don't think he made this meeting just to announce about the new aircrafts or any of what ever you guys said

they are in deep ****

and need us to work 2wice what we are doing now

it will be just anther meeting

wast of time

stefan1138 27th May 2008 14:51

So, did this meeting take place and what was the news?

Chuck Y 27th May 2008 15:34

Why the secrecy? Come on spill the beans!!!

stefan1138 27th May 2008 16:40

So it is something big?

Che Guevara 27th May 2008 17:16

So it is something big?
Yes.

Hasta maņana.

Dessert Aviator 27th May 2008 17:39

Hunt the Pilot

GF are looking for 150 new hires this year, with 50 upgrades so get your applications in. No talk of money, some horsesh*t about more delapidated a/c.

bus787 28th May 2008 03:40

150 new hires.?? Thats all announced.
Who will come to a company with no action.?
Bahrain air announcing new flights to India.
GF still looking to lease an aircraft.
Guys they are taking you on a boat ride until Bahrain air establishes itself .
Than bye bye all.
Ey in same market for A320 within 5 months already six 320 and two 319.More to come .Relaitivly new aircraft only one old mama .
There are planes around if GF wants but its all a matter of money.
Come on guys wake up move on .

jbsig 28th May 2008 09:26

150 new hires.

That's just about the number of pilots that have resigned in the past twelve months.

In other words, when all the new boys are trained, say in May 09, we will be back again in the same state as we were in May 07 when the Swiss boys took the helm.
Loosing money, and flying old airplanes.
Great management ....

Oh yes, and the good news is, it's only another 8 years before the first new 787 arrives, there definitely is a bright light at the end of the very long and dark tunnel

Not too small 28th May 2008 09:33

Just say that u regret leaving gulfair like the others and please dont compare bah air with gulf air.

jackbauer 28th May 2008 09:41

More BS from the GF management. If you read Flight mag you will see the 787 is turning into a bit of a pup. Delayed by at least 2 years, even the roll out version is sitting dismantled in a hangar. It was nothing more than an empty plastic shell for the media. Boeing more than a little embarassed by the whole thing. Keep your head in the sand guys, at least you wont see the train coming when it ploughs over you.

Desert Diner 28th May 2008 09:58

All they have to do is get "newer" old second hand 330s and 340s and that will be a significant improvement to the GF image:rolleyes:

The 787 order was another way of saying sawa sawa for another 5-10 years.:=

tbaylx 28th May 2008 10:56

Not too small ''Just say that u regret leaving gulfair like the others and please dont compare bah air with gulf air. ''

You have to be kidding me right? I left a year ago and it's one of the best moves i ever did in aviation. Just the roster alone would have made it worth leaving, nevermind all the other stuff.

Sure hope things work out for the best for everyone at GF and that upgrades, fleet replacement and expansion happen like they say. Just realize it's the same story GF has been telling for years now so it may be awhile.

flatfootsam 28th May 2008 11:06

Looks like you're all shooting in the dark - here's the story and it's good news

Gulf Air has placed a firm order with Airbus for 35 aircraft.

The order comprises 15 A320 single aisle aircraft and 20 A330-300s.

The contract was signed the Berlin Air show.

New Airbus fleet & B787's.

Krinkle 28th May 2008 11:51

"The A320 will serve Gulf Air's regional destinations, while the A330 will operate on the airline's European routes and enhance its Far Eastern services"

No word on delivery though.

Sal-e 28th May 2008 12:22

Come on chaps! This is good news. Not new news, but good news nontheless. At least we're not in the dark as much.
160 new pilots required in the next year plus around 50 resignations forecasted.
This equates to 210 new pilots required and a move 50 seniority positions up for the guys at the bottom with 210 slotting in behind.
With a minimum of 4 upgrades per month, does this mean First Officer number 50 and less can expect command in around a year? Not too sure how these things work.

Mephistopheles 28th May 2008 12:27

Here's an article about the orders:

Things are slowly, very slowly looking better!!!

stefan1138 28th May 2008 12:44

Congratulations GF! :ok:Impressive order!

In the meeting did they give updates on new / second-hand leases (like the rumoured 340-600s and such)?

International 28th May 2008 14:06

airbus order...

It looks like good news, but I notice that there is no mention of delivery dates. The Boeing order was announced the same way, with no delivery date mentioned, and only after the fanfare was it revealed that delivery would be in 2016...

Albergineman 28th May 2008 14:08

Excellent GF!

Since Jetblue had postponed its 21 A320's order that were originally scheduled to be delivered between 2009 and 2011 to 2014 and 2015 and I do believe more small airlines are following this way, specially in US, allowing other airlines to take advantage.

The time will show

Cheers

:D

Che Guevara 28th May 2008 14:36

Great news for GF! :ok:

Now if only the ones who left and or jumped their bonds would dissapear into their new lives for good and leave us alone, we can all get on with enjoying it.

Good luck all!

DesertHawk 28th May 2008 14:52

i second that!!!! good news boys relish the gravy.....for all those nay sayers please use another thread ie your own airlines and complain about that now:) GF back on track!!

Propspinner 28th May 2008 15:18

tbaylx, you may or may not be bald, but GF is definetely getting airbus ie firm order:) use sunscreen it helps:)

Mephistopheles 28th May 2008 16:10

The airbus order consists of delivering 5 a/c per year upto 2015.

MMC 28th May 2008 16:40

From what I understand this does not include leases mentioned before, including the 2 x A321s, 2 x A319s this year plus 3 x A330s next year.

Also heard that 4 x 340 on lease next year - but not confirmed.

Not sure how many of the A320/330/340 will be leaving the fleet but understand the A330 fleet will be 30.

A330 from 2010, A320 from 2011.
