No EY orders @ DXB

It seems very strange that EY have not gone ahead with aircraft orders at the DXB airshow....all its rivals have......hmmmm I wonder whats going on:confused:

Has Hogie had the purse strings cut?....or is another biggie about to be announced?

Was she hired for her ill manners and her vulgar demeanour?
Only in the Gulf!

salahabuali 12th Nov 2007 06:13

How can anyone in Abu Dhabi accept such vulgarity and low lifes in an outfit supposed to be so upmarket?

Low, plain low!

priceless 12th Nov 2007 09:33

Desert Diner 13th Nov 2007 03:07

Why exactly do they have to place an order this year? :confused:

cantilever 13th Nov 2007 05:39

Crewing levels on the bus are still way off so maybe sense has prevailed...!

However it puts a bit of a dent in thier image as one of the big boys..EY & QR have shown who are the real players....and highlites the EY lack of vision and forward planning
There is also the rumour doung the rounds that they are looking at the old EK 777!....great for the image :}

Maybe GF have some old rustbickets we can buy!!!:{

Mustapha Rex 13th Nov 2007 12:43

Would he not have loved to bask in the glory of yet another strategic order.....tough love but it ain't goin' to happen.

I can just see the little BMI minstrels in the back waiting to line their pockets with add-ons from engine types to cabin interiors.

guess it will have to wait.....:hmm:

Surely given the reliability problems that EY have with their Airbus fleet then more 777's from whatever source would be a smart move - if it improves the despatch reliability then that has to be good for their 'image'

Imagine you and your neighbour.

He just ordered himself a shiny new Merc for his wife and is looking to sell her two year old Cadillac.

Your wife wants a new car as well but you can't afford that shiny new Merc at the moment. You can however, afford their second hand Caddy. The problem is whether your wife would be willing to be seen driving around in her neighbours old car.:ouch:

It's as simple as that:\

First time poster. Please bear with me as I try to understand the string.
AC's are on the ground? Without flight deck?? I may be not understanding something. The metal just does not show up overnight. Usually there is substantial lead times to prepare for deliveries. From what I understand the money is not the worst in the region. A myriad of errors are made for this type of oversite. Was there no planning for accommodations for projected numbers of crew, adequate number of schools? That is a direct result in poor planning and HR. No communication between the departments? In an accountable airline heads would role at the first loss of revenue. Revenue is the cornerstone to profits.....and profit share. I understand that sh##t happens but how does one explain to board members lost money that others are all too quck to capitalize on.

Desert Diner 14th Nov 2007 08:42

You have to be here for a while before you can even begin to even try to understand the "business" :rolleyes:

But to be fair. Before you "condemn" the players out here, based on your point of reference, you might want to explain all the bancruptcies, the huge losses, the operation of 40+ y.o. aircraft that occurs in your neck of the woods.

sondbird101 do you think it works also for villas? because ek has nice compounds and at ey we are living in cheap flat :}

i am quite sure they don t know that dubai airshow has started yet..
Or perhaps they are waiting to announce it at the Abu Dhabi Airshow

sondbird101 14th Nov 2007 10:33

Thanks Desert. Appreciate the insight. Lots more fact finding to do before getting into a deal that is not presented in full light.

Desert Diner 14th Nov 2007 11:13

Sond,

It wasn't meant as a slag.

It's just impossible to understand (or even explain) the "business" unless you are "living the dream" out here. It is completely alien if you are trying to figure it out from a US, or to a slightly lesser extent a Euro, point of reference.

Mustapha Rex 14th Nov 2007 15:10

The business is like any other business, it's just that EY currently stands low on anyone's wish list.

Yani Yani 15th Nov 2007 07:27

Spot on noflare....

NG_Kaptain 15th Nov 2007 10:29

EK has been sending queries to current EY pilots who had previously applied asking if they were still interested:). Let the poaching begin. Etihad, watch out, Emirates is looking in your property.

gccpro 15th Nov 2007 14:03

Forward planning?

Any forward planning would be to seek refuge back home and pray that they stay out of harm's way.

You can run, but you can't hide!
