Emirates: Applying to the National Graduate Trainee Program

Hello guys,

I have stumbled across some job openings on the www.emiratesgroupcareers.com website. The National Graduate Trainee Program, as it is called, hires citizens in the age bracket 21-27, with a Bachelor/HD degrees. The end-objective is to become an Assistant Manager or Area/Station Manager.

I truly believe that my CV, credentials and potential contribution to the Emirates Group are impressive. Here are some notes about my background:

- 25 years old

- Perfectly fluent in Arabic, English and French and beginner in Spanish, willing to learn other languages if necessary.

- Hold a Masters degree in Engineering (relevant in my opinion)

- Founded and managed Eurostar Aviation since 1996, a virtual group of 1000+ professional flight simmers, simulating an airline run by a management (www.esava.net). I also co-designed the automated online operations site, Pegasus, for Eurostar Aviation.

- Have a thorough understanding of the aviation industry and have been following it since I was 10 years old. I have also been watching Emirates and its progress since its early days. I have keeping up to date with publications such as Flight International, Air Transport World, etc..

- I have a deep passion for the airline industry and my great admiration and respect for Emirates is even deeper. It would be a dream-come-true to join them.

- I will be in Dubai in December for an interview.

Now I guess you have expected this: I am not a UAE citizen . But:

- I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia and I am familiar with the local market.

- I speak Arabic fluently, along with English and French

- As a person of Palestinian origin (stateless in the Middle East), I do not have a national carrier to join but I believe in Arab unity and brotherhood and as such, joining Emirates is my natural choice.

I plan on submitting an extensive application online and perhaps write a letter to whoever is responsible, to ask if such an exception would be made.

Do you think I stand a chance? Is there anybody you know I shoud contact BEFORE submitting the CV needlessly?

Thank you very much for you assistance,

Hussam Ali

One word springs to mind!

SPOTTER

havent i seen you sitting at Heathrow with your flask of tea and chair, cracking one off over an EK 777 coming in to land?

If they state that they want a UAE citizen, then i guess they would only consider UAE citizens, regardless of brotherhood's of fellow arab's.

I live in the UAE right now, and there is a lot of talk now about some new policies being introduced to employ more nationals. But as I understand it, nationals have first crack, then any GCC nation, then the rest of the world.

No Reply from Emirates

Hello,

Following to what I posted above, I applied to join Emirates' National Grafuate Trainee Program. I also sent by FedEx a personal letter to Mr. Abdulaziz Al Ali pleading for an extraordinary exception to be made in considering my application (I am not a UAE citizen but my credentials are very impressive for what they are looking for).

After I filled the online application, I do remember the message "We will contact you in the next 7 days to confirm your application". This has not happened and I wonder if that signifies that my application was not evaluated.

Thanks for any information,

Hussam

Just now, I got an automated response confirming my application, butafter more than 2 months have elapsed. Is this expected at Emirates due to their high level of application processing and does this mean only now will someone actually read my application (and the attached letter I have a sent by FedEx)?

Thanks for any feedback

Unhappy Abdulaziz Al Ali

I think that Rani has stumbled accross the wonderful foresight of Mr. Al Ali, notoriously famous for his engagement in "Arab Unity" issues, if only he could help himself first, his office chair has a spinning lever far beyond his reach and size is not the issue here!
There are other carriers in the Middle East you know who employ Arabs and certainly look after their staff better than EK does!
