Really difficult to estimate. In addition to the elements heretofore, maybe the food and the leisure could increase your outgoings. The food is affordable, especially if you like the exotic’s one (but forget french cheese or wine ). For the free time you find almost everything here all depends on you own expectations. Hope it helps u or send specific requests

Dear fellows,

What is the package (moneywise) offered to 767 DECs?
Are they actively recruiting?

Regards

For those who enjoy wine, Abu Dhabi the place to be in the Gulf.

4 bottles are permitted duty free! As opposed to 2 bottles Dubai and Muscat, 1 bottle a month in Bahrain and a paltry zero in Qatar-there is no mittigating the misery of that place!

Abu Dhabi duty free is ok for wine on departure and includes a discount. Some solid, second labels from 2nd Growths-Chateau Talbot etc.

Bahrain is exotic. From Mouton Rothchild to Italian village wine. Very, very good Australian wine costs the same at Bahrain duty free as in Australia. A nice Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc for yourself too, you are a Kiwi Iassume?

PM me if you would like a run down. Honestly, you are in a good position regarding wine and Abu Dhabi.

Ensure any breaching or bending of the rules by F/As,buying and onselling, is quickly stamped out. They will do it and the majority will be punished.

Good European cheese is expensive and bloody ripe by the time it gets here.

Cheers!

Sure it’s a good place for the alcohols regarding the surrounding countries. But as I’m living here, the duty free isn’t my favourite place to visit (maybe twice a year). I just warn the expats candidates that you’d better go for wine box than vintage one. I saw last week, as a special offer, a bottle of Margaux 97 for 300 AED (around 50 £). Forget my words for those who visit the duty free twice a day.
Anyway, thanks for your proposition Gnadenburg.
For the others (expats), just notice that the authorities issues a “drinking card” with a monthly amount according to your incomes.

Strange how a place is judged on it's wine selection!!

You can obtain quite reasonable Australian wine (which is superior to the rubbish the french pass off as wine these days). A lovely Brown Bros. at A&E around 40dhs.

Shame, I thought you had access to duty free. It is a great deal. Same price as Maragret River or the Rhone Valley. And Abu Dhabi 4 bottles a trip!

Abu Dhabi the most survivable of Gulf bases, if access to
Duty Free.
