Emirates-CAE Flight Training facility opened

"The Dh367 million joint venture flight simulation facility owned by Emirates Group and CAE has opened at Dubai Airport Free Zone.
"The facility is the first part of Emirates' ambitious plans to develop our operations in this field which will be achieved when we open our new aviation college at the end of the year," said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation (DCA) and chairman of Emirates Group.
"We are confident that this will place Emirates at the forefront of aviation training in the region, offering the very best in training and facilities to both airlines and corporate aircraft operators."
The Emirates-CAE Flight Training facility is owned and operated by Emirates and CAE on an equal partnership basis under a 10-year agreement. Currently, the facility has two simulators – an Airbus A320 family full flight simulator and Boeing B737-NJ/BBJ.
With the existing six simulators at the Emirates Aviation College, the total number of simulators has risen to eight.
The new facility at the College will house a total of 14 simulators that will serve a growing number of pilots from various airlines and aviation companies.
Once fully up and running, it will be able to train 4,000 pilots a year, said Gary Scott, group president of Civil Simulation and Training, CAE.
Seven aviation companies have signed up - Qatar Airways, Kuwait Airways, Oman Air, Yemenia, Air Sahara, Helios Airways and Air Seychelles.
CAE is a global leader in providing advanced flight simulation and training services. With annual revenues of $1.12 billion, the Canada-based company employs 6,000 people and is the world leader in the sale of civil flight simulators and the second largest independent civil aviation training provider.
This is the company's first facility in the Middle East.
