Question Joining Qatar Airways as a F/O

I wonder if anyone could offer me some advice. I've around 900 hours total time, with 500 of that on a heavy turboprop.
I attended a CAP 509 course (using the same college used by Emirates), and I'm interested in joining Qatar as a F/O .

I understand that you require a type rating on either 330/320/300 , and 1500 hoursTT . Obviously I don't have that.

Who is the best person to write to at Qatar ? and what chance would I have in being taken on ?

From what I understand the airline seems to be quite short of crew , is this correct.

Thanks for any help offered .

Sorry mate...bad news!

1) QR will not accept you if you are not type rated on A320 or A300. They have paid some Type rating but that was only for Qatari nationals who are elegible for the Qatar governement sponsorsheme!

2) QR has met all the requirments for now considering pilot quota. Only a small shortage for A320 captains.
They have a big reserve of CVs in their hands now and from januari on all the gaps will be filled. Off course with all the expansion going on they might need again pilots in the summer but then again , they will not give you the type rating!

QR F/O

Chevy-ss.

You are saying that all the gaps are filled until next summer,so why have QR advertised for type rated F/Os just recently? (1 week ago),I do not understand why QR advertise when all the gaps are filled?. I am typed on the A-320 and looking to get a job with QR,could you shed some light on this please.

Thank you.

As far as I know they are building a huge database in order to be ready for the next wave of new airplanes.

The next A320 arrives here in May and during th next two years 6 A330 will join the fleet.

So it is not because they have enough pilots right now that they will have enough pilots within 6 months!

All I said is that for the comming months all the pilots have been recruited. 12 more are joining this month and another 6 in Januari!

Captains A320 is a bigger problem.....
