QR recruitment rumor

Is it true that QR are now waiving the minimum jet time requirement of 500hrs?
Rumor has it that they are and in fact, I heard from a source that at least one guy, (if not a whole batch of new recruits) is/are being sent to France next month to do a A320 type rating at QR's expense.
Any comments?

hey nil water,
heard unconfirmed reports that one of our(Falcon Express) ex-firstofficers got on with them ....it's great news if it's true that QR are considering applicants with turboprop time and good on you,JH , that's a great break.

Let's hope that other airlines in the middle east follow soon.

Are you sure this isnt just a new batch of freshly trained Qatari Cadets? QR provides full pilot sponsorships for Qatari Nationals. They do up to their CPL/Multi IR in Doha at the Doha Aeronautical College and then proceed to France for A320 type training. This is all paid for by QR, but the airline only sponsors nationals.

However, if what nosirrah says is true, maybe they are changing their tune about the need for an A320 Type rating. But, this might not mean they have waved the 500H Jet time though. It could simply just conversion training from one jet to another. It could also be some current QR pilots converting from the A300 to the A320. It could be a lot of things.

A question to anyone who knows. Why send students to France when type training for the A320 can be done at the Gulf Air Center in Doha? Seems a bit odd.

The QR website still says pilots must be type rated on the A320/300. However I am sure this will change soon. I was speaking to one pilot who said there are not a lot of type rated pilots floating around anymore. Something will have to change soon........

Cheers
