QR927 4 or 5 overshoots at Doha before diverting to Bahrain

QR 927 made its initial approach on schedule in Doha around 2300 on the 6th of May. It overshot, and had I believe, four more attempts before diverting to Bahrain. After refuelling it proceeded. to Doha an hour or so later
The weather was fine with light winds.
A very scary situation for all passengers with no reason given. Does anybody know anything?

The mystery lies in the METARs on that evening.

2300L is 2000Z (UTC+3) in Doha.

Nah, still don't get it. 7-9 kts change of direction but 4 go-arounds ? And,in my day, after two, for any reason, diversion was mandatory.

Not all airlines restrict the number of approaches you can make to an airport. Most of the time it's all about being in the right place at the right time when it comes to weather. The old saying goes if the crew who crashed their aircraft had just waited 10 minutes for the weather to pass, they would have survived to live another day.

Anyway, it looks like windshear activity in Doha. Any windshear alerts = go around.

Tks LOWI. Got it now. Wind shearing around 9kts would not have worried me too much. 2 frights & I would have been offski. After 4, and in Bahrain, I would have phoned GF and asked ;" Got any jobs ?".
