To what extent is the US pilot shortage affecting ME carriers?
Hi,
heard from a friend of a friend: some ME flyers are resigning and moving to the US. Just wondering: are these individual cases or is it a significant drain already?

A green card is not easy. No one hands you a green card on the spot. Even being married to an American will takes about three years. There's two departments that work on this process. There's the immigration team that ask's about RFE's ( request further evidence ) and reviews your case. Then the state department takes over, the ones who authorize the right to live and work in the US. The state department is the longest process ever. The hold up takes place here. A friend of mine got sponsored recently which is a complete different story. That took about two months. Sponsorship falls under a whole different set of rules. If any pilot does say " i got a green card " ask to see it and question when they started the process. Pilots and green cards is very possible, but its not an overnight thing. There's a good chance they have been working on this for years.
