Qatar Airways makes a $1.5 billions profit

Congratulations Qatar airways, on your successful year and the record-breaking profit.

However, on getting to this monumental sum remember how you got there.
  1. Deprived crew of up to 70% of their wages during the pandemic.
  2. Fired too many crew and brought them back on a reduced salary. Not uncommon for some FOs to be earning more than the Captain sat next to them.
  3. No overtime pay.
  4. No pay for deadheading.
  5. Loss of license cover removed.
  6. Incremental pay increase frozen.
So let us not get too carried away with this announcement. Many of us suffered greatly because of your decisions. Any potential 'bonus' payment, whilst welcomed, would need to cover all that you took from us in the first place.

A modicum of self-awareness is never a bad thing.

What UT said. The announced "bonus" payment is less than withheld pay over the same period.

That’s pretty poor removing loss of licence cover which is standard at most major carriers. Let’s hope they get it going again sometime soon now the money is rolling in. Didn’t they change the health insurance also?

i Hope for everyone that every employee gets a share

but

an Arab sharing success and money with expats rather than with him self - that makes me laugh - they cannot even be honest over their mistakes - lol

Only Qatar Airways can pay a 'bonus' and leave you feeling like you've been ripped off. When I think about how much money they have made and what percentage of that profit was due to wage reductions.....

I can imagine some disappointed people today, having read the company's bonus payment criteria. Shameful!
