Flight Pulse
I know there aren't many left here. Many don't care and come what may as there is no other option outside of the present. But I do feel a need to rant.
As you are now aware the flight pulse will start to be distributed and utilized. Of course we are told this isn't about oversight. What we are told is we will have access to "metrics" to compare and contrast as a "personal" review tool. I don't believe it for an instant and I see this as another step in the wrong direction for having a feeling of fear and intimidation.
It isn't a secret that metrics were used to determine the order of who would go as the waves rolled through. And metrics (KPI's) have been continued to be used to have meetings with people who may not be bad employees but just might need a little "more direction". This company has never come outright and said we are coming after you for your extra fuel, your attendance or your training file. They wouldn't be so silly as it would put them on the wrong side of the legal world. But they say as much and the message is very clearly received by those who are in the gunsights. Perception is reality and that is the cold hard truth.
What is the difference between Qantas and us? They have solid union protection and oversight in their use of the flight pulse. So I can't accept how great the feedback has been from them. It's not apples to apples. There are metrics, there will be ranking, and it will be used to increase the bottom line. Anyone standing in the way of that might want to consider other employment options. Some of us have been oblivious and skating not knowing how thin the ice is underneath. The flight pulse will certainly be turning the temperature up....
