Cost of living in Dubai?
I see a lot of people complaining about the cost of living in Dubai, which drives them away from the appealing salary of the national carriers.
But from what I understood, Emirates pays for your housing and your children's schooling. Isn't that the majority of living costs anyway? You pretty much just have to pay for your food and any other leisurely items. Right?
So why is living in Dubai as an Emirates pilot considered super expensive?
-Thanks

He won't admit, but if he is a real saudi he knows exactly how much it is... Spending the whole weekend playing of P.IMP. at Manama with his 3 besties in the LC, living it up, to return to the homeland by Sunday to live the dream during the weekdays...

Could someone actually provide a serious answer to this? The EK recruitment page indicates $3,900 USD per month in housing allowance. I just went to Dubai for the first time last week and saw plenty of real estate that could be afforded at $3,900/mo or even less. Even in places like Dubai Marina.

no more living out on rent - that’s one thing you miss
another thing might be that housing might be only company in future
so yes you missing a lot
and on top you have to wait until they start recruiting - they just fired 1200 pilots - updates on new TC‘s short before they will hire again - forget the current page

That there is a global pandemic? I think you might have missed that.
That they have just made nearly 2000 pilots redundant? I think you have obviously missed that.
That there is no living out allowance anymore for new joiners? I think you might have missed that.
That those who have the allowance have had it reduced by 15%? I think you might have missed that.
That they are not recruiting? I think you might have missed that.
Unless I’m missing something? .........and you are just a troll ? I don’t think I missed that.

Of course they aren't hiring in a pandemic. Nor did I ever indicate I was interested. The simple question was - the website advertises X per month, I saw places such as Y per month. Just following up on the original question which nobody provided any helpful insight into.
We get it, you're all miserable at Emirates.
