Emirates Stewardess killed in car accident
Sad news, from the BBC(08/08):
"An off-duty air stewardess from Staffordshire has been killed in an accident in Dubai. Tammy Evans, 27, of Marchbanks, Rugeley, died after her boyfriend's Ferrari sports car overturned and burst into flames.
She was trapped beneath the vehicle and suffered terrible burns in the accident. Miss Evans worked for the Emirates airline and was living in Dubai. An inquest into her death on 28 July was opened by Staffordshire South coroner Andrew Haigh on Wednesday.
Miss Evans, who is thought to have been wearing her belt, was trapped underneath when the car burst into flames
A report sent to Mr Haigh by the authorities in Dubai showed Miss Evans suffered such extensive injuries that she had to be identified by her dental records. Coroner's officer Howard Carter said a full report into Miss Evans' death was still awaited from the authorities in Dubai.
He said: "From what we know at the moment this is a very tragic accident indeed.
"From what we understand Miss Evans was travelling along Jumeirah Road in Dubai together with her boyfriend in his Ferrari.
"Another vehicle was travelling along the road in the same direction which somehow caused the Ferrari to roll.
"The boyfriend, who was not thought to be wearing a seat belt, was thrown clear in the accident but Miss Evans, who is thought to have been wearing her belt, was trapped underneath when the car burst into flames.
"Whether anyone tried to rescue her is not known but Miss Evans is believed to have been certified dead at the scene."
The boyfriend, who survived the crash, is being interviewed by the Dubai authorities about the incident.
Miss Evans's body has been flown home and examined by a Home Office pathologist preparing a report for Mr Haigh. Details will be released when the full inquest is heard."
