Interesting... still doesn't make much sense though. Either there is a (new) issue with laptops or there isn't. In any case can't be carrier / destination specific.

Do you know if this applies to the UK ban from Turkey as well, or only for US flights? IST was a common transit point for me to the UK until they told me my laptop had to go in the hold. Not a chance.
