Guardian Wealth Management leaving Qatar?

It seems that Guardian Wealth Management has gone into liquidation.

What happens to the customers to whom they have sold 10, 20 30 year savings plans?

Seems they sold the same rip off ILAS products as the likes of Global Eye, DeVere Group, etc, which are due to be banned in the UAE by IA during 2017. When this happened in HK sales fell 80% overnight.

Besides, with expats leaving versus new arrivals at a ratio of 5:1 (rumoured) there isn't much fresh blood about.

They called both me and my wife the other day. I don't even know how they got our numbers.

Frequentflyer, are you an APC member? They sold my details to a Jakarta based investment company that kept hassling me. An idiot, dishonest neighbour gave my number to DeVere when he was getting a sales pitch and the salesman asked for more numbers. Sadly, it's very common that our colleagues give out our numbers to fraudsters simply because they're too cowardiced to say no to the salesmen.

No, I'm down the road in AUH. Very strange that they called my wife on the same day too.

I was actually reading "The Global Expatriates guide to investing" at the time which made it quite funny.

This book should be mandatory reading for everyone before moving here!

I fly with so many guys who have been caught out and lost vast sums of money to these sharks.

I've decided that from now on, I'm just going to arrange a meeting at an extremely inconvenient place and time then no go!

Interestingly there is a talk from Andrew Hallam today about expat investing in Dubai.

It's free to attend, unfortunately I'm working but it's in Dubai and should be worth a look.

Danger Guardian Global Solutions fined by Qatar regulator

Guardian Wealth Management or Guardian Global Solutions, as they have been calling themselves recently, did not leave Qatar but were kicked out by the regulator! The regulator (QFC) have posted a notice on their website that GWM have been issued a fine of one million dollars.
