Emirates Statistics

I was just thinking about about the people who joined EK with me, we were a group of 12 and joined 1999.

All except one became Captains, 5 including me left since that, 5 got fired and 2 got demoted.
The 2 demoted ones are still there because once they accepted the RIGHT seat no other airline would hire them even with their thousands of hours PIC time.
All 5 who got fired kept their provident fund but lost their staff travel benefits which kick in after 10 years.

Did anybody have a similar experience?

PS: I know many more who left, got demoted or fired but these are the ones who joined with me

5 guys out of one course all fired?? That must be a statistical anomaly, surely?

No, your course was unique. Think the recruitment process changed dramatically in 2000 when they realised they'd attracted a bunch of incompetent, whinging troublemakers. They must have been strange and confusing times back then, being demoted and then 'accepting the left seat'?

Not enough negative EK forums on the go for you right now without the need to stir the pot? It just amazes me that despite leaving, you still can't quite let go.....

They say you grieve for one month per year of relationship.

12 months on, notice how SOPS has backed off.

So expect to see GoreTex appearing on our forums for a little while longer based on his joining year of 1999

Seems like a 'bad boy' intake😂

Out of my group of 12 joiners no one has been fired and off the top of my head 5 have left over the years...

OMG, Harry, you are posting the exact same message every time you don't like the comment of a former employee. You are attacking someone's need to discuss here but at the same time you find yourself competent to be the judge of who can and who cannot post here? Mate, from my point of view you have bigger issues of not letting go than people who want to discuss their experiences here (which is, btw, a normal need of intelligent and curious people).

I find this thread very interesting, so if you want to sabotage the discussion - start your own and get over yourself.

Xiamen:
very easily, just have a little more sick days then they allow you, get a warning for that, have a repeat some where during training and voila another warning on top.
So by incident be late for your pick up once or twice and guess yes another warning in your file.
As you are now cornered, you do your best but unfortunately you forgot your hat in the company car and so you have it ....you can now be fired
please note those are only examples of what happened to guys here.
Creativity of the company is huge so any other incident e.g drinking espresso out of a china cup on board can start the same chain of warnings, bullying.
I suggest you come here and find out by yourself.

That's probably the best advice one can give.

Know the rules inside out and become anally retentive with your self-discipline. Probably will upset the more adventurous guys you fly with but you just have to protect yourself... being caught carrying a coffee in uniform won't get you fired, but it may exacerbate your situation if you have an innocent slip-up doing your job on the line.

No one likes to take the small rules seriously, until they get burned and suddenly they're on their way out.

Probably also worth pointing out that if you do have a violation of any nature, be it forgetting your hat or something much worse - be honest with them, accept blame (if it's due) and promise them you'll learn from it and won't let it happen again. The last thing you want to do is look like you're not accepting responsibility. This is true in any airline, especially as a Captain.

"Unhappy wives" - Would hate my wife ruining my career and my biggest worry in this profession is how to know which girl is gonna act up.

Emirates have just hired a chap as DEC on 777 whom was fired from BA 3 months ago for gross misconduct. Times must be changing.
