Rush Hour 12L Dubai 24th Dec 2016
Merry Christmas to one and all.
Just wanted to share the following, major holding into Dubai last night during the midnight rush 40 mins plus.
Listening to a conversation on the ground it would appear that 12L kills the arrival rate as ATC cannot utilize both runways for arrivals like they can on the 30's.
As an old chief pilot used to end his messages, "Please be guided accordingly"
Great job by ATC last night by the way.

You're catching on this now? It's been like this for three years plus... The trombone arrivals have basically unlimited capacity going downwind for the 30's whereas the 12's are boxed in by Iran, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain

The other problem is taxiway congestion around the terminal area when 12 is duty direction - according to one of my DXB ATC chums...
