Was I even fit to fly? (Terminated Qatar airways ex crew)

Hi Guys,

I need a big favor from anyone who is aware about airline medical stuff.

I had disk herniation at L5 S1 and I also had osteopenia in my entire body.

I informed my company that I should not be made to fly since this problem is re-occuring.

I wrote a letter to the Snake and he in turn wrote letter to Ceo.

In this letter the snake wrote the following dated June)

Prior to writing to you I checked with Dr Clara regarding (crewname) medical situation, and whether his condition is recurrent, she said "Case is reviewed. Yes, recurrence of symptoms is possible. There are findings in his MRI which will lead to re-occurance.

Please advise if you want (crewname) to be interviewed for a suitable position with QR Ground services OR permit him to operate flight till medical condition resurfaces. Personally, I feel that the latter is not a good option, because if he has slip disc on aircraft or on a layover, it will put us in a danger zone

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, my story :

The recurrence happened twice in July and I cleared the ground job interview in August.

So, both the conditions were met and I was still made to operate flights and when I was completely bed ridden they terminated me saying I am not fit to do ground job.
Can you please let me know if I was fit to operate the flight or not?

When these people found out that I have busted their plot, they terminated me without giving any compensation.

Suggest you copy and paste this thread into the medical forum, lot of useful advice down there, similar to Neektu's. Not sure about this but I would have thought compensation would only be payable if your medical condition was entirely due to your work with the airline and not a pre-existing condition. Best of luck.

It could be fixed by surgery, but if you have generalized osteopenia, the issue might reoccur elsewhere in the spine. Go see a good orthopedist. Doctors working for airlines usually have to follow some strict protocols to keep people flying.
I have recovered now, but I was curious if with this condition i was fit to fly or not in first place.

How can doctors make someone fly with such problems , especially when the work involves safety procedures which requires excellent health.

I mean I was thinking to sue the company for this, but the lawyers said it's difficult to prove it happened due to work.

Anyway, thanks for your advice.

Oh by the way, I don't feel pain due to long hours of sitting.... )

Why don't you go to an aeromedical specialist and get a written opinion?
Then you can take it further?
