Its just a tragic case. Some of the people even got lawyers to help them get their money back and these lawyers do not turn up for the court hearings. Making this hopeless situation even worse for these people.

Feel bad for those who have lost so much money though...
Me I find it extremely funny - let's call it natural selection, like the impalas who unfortunately don't run quickly enough in the veld, or those who have bad eyesight ...

I agree to saying things like that is disgusting... Nothing funny people loosing their life savings even if its their fault!!!

Oh please. Seeing greedy people pay for their greed IS pretty funny. The people who are amused at this entirely predictable outcome are the same ones who tried to explain to these geniuses that it was a pyramid scheme, and were then basically ignored while visions of quick money danced in people's heads. Those of us that made money the old-fashioned "get-rich-slow" way aren't about to shed tears for those who tried to take shortcuts.

Greed makes people believe what they want to be true, no matter how many warnings they are given. Anyone who actually thought 10%/month returns were legitimate based on "other people are doing it" or the sage advice of their fellow CC, deserves to lose their money. Either people are too stupid to remember to breathe, or deep down they really knew that it was too good to be true but just hoped it would last long enough for them to make their own pile on the backs of those who followed them. That to me is "repugnant and vile".

Hey, education is expensive sometimes. Be thankful it's only money...

Your argument is a complete non sequitur, because these people did not suffer "misfortune". That implies they were innocent victims of something beyond their control. When in fact they willfully chose to ignore everyone who warned against joining a pyramid scheme, in the hopes they could get something for nothing.

No one is "revelling" in anyone's loss. But sorry, when people get burned for being greedy/stupid others WILL be amused, to varying degrees.

I do hope that the instigators are caught and punished, fwiw. Good luck to those trying to remover at least their "investment".

If not done already, I think it would be appropriate if all the Gulf carriers EK, EY, QR, FZ etc... provide some guidance during their induction programmes to warn new bright eyed and bushy tailed expat employees of some of these potential pitfalls. To may of our CC this is usually their first venture off shore from home and the naivety is easy pickings for the sharks. Yes... I know they are adults, but getting caught in this trap will easily rob one of enjoying their adult life... prevention better than cure etc...

They were greedy and they were trying to resell their misfortune to their colleagues, so they deserve what they got. No sympathy, just laughter.

If they really have degrees, those didn't prevent them from finishing CC in the ME - and even more, didn't help them in being aware of the scam coming to them.

Therefore soft degrees, maybe Masters in iPhoning or Samsuning...

Bear in mind, a good few of the victims of this scam are pilots. So whatever you think of the CC can equally be applied to pilots.

Just sayin'.

That's why I say, those pilots that participated in this scam are not victims, they are stupid morons, they deserve to loose their cash
