What's the point in this post?
Are you trying to ask for advice? Or show off?
I mean I went from a 737 to 777 too, albeit in the right seat!
I've had a long day, I'll go and lie down!

I only fly an A320 900 hours a year, no 8 consecutive days off, no hats and crew meal, no business class, but... wait for the show off: I live in my HOMETOWN, and work for a company where I am not merely an expat ID number.

Uhhh...there are B777 jobs that offer more than eight consecutive days off every month. Yay, twice a year...?
On this year's annual survey of desirable expat locales, Kuwait placed 65th out of 67 countries surveyed. (But hey, higher than Mozambique and Nigeria.) Only slightly lower than Saudi Arabia at 63.
Sorry, what was the bragging about again? I'll take seventhreedriver's deal any day.

8 days off twice a year. Yippie?
Sorry but guys like you who drive our profession down are pathetic.
I average 20 days off PER MONTH. Yes, you're reading that right, per month. I know guys who get 23 days off per month. And most end up with 15-16 days off per month. That usually means every month you can compress your schedule to 10-12 days off in a row. Club that with the beginning of the next month off and you basically get a month-on/ month-off schedule, all year long. We still fly 750-1,000 hrs/ year.
Now bear in mind, I am NOT using any vacation time in this equation. Our vacation time starts our slow. Years 1 is two weeks. 2-11 is 3 weeks of vacation per annum. Years 11-20 is 5 weeks off per annum. 20-25. 6 weeks off. So factor in vacation time and it's not uncommon for a pilot to take an ADDITIONAL entire 30 off in a row (vacation clubbed with your days off) 3 or 4 times per year. That's in addition to aforementioned days off! Our pilot contract have huge pay bumps for making pilots sit around in hotels. The result is a very efficient schedule whereby you get your work done quite quickly. We call that rig pay. If the company has us sitting around in hotels for a longer period that is necessary they have to pay us a certain number of flight hours per day. We also refer to this as soft time. Airlines HATE to pay soft time. They are essentially paying you big money for nothing in return. So they resolve this by forcing the scheduling departs to squeeze the efficiency equation out of every pilot's schedule. The byproduct of this is more days off.
We also have other ways of getting more days off. We have 9 hr turns for example. Fly 8 of those and you have 72 hrs in for the month, our minimum guarantee. You can stop there, at 22 days off in a 30 day month or 23 days off in a 31 day month. Or you can pick up more flying at $250/ hr, that's straight time. If you volunteer yourself for senior manning and they need you, you'll get double pay. So a 9 hr turn in that example would pay 18 hrs. If a guy flies his 72 hour schedule, then gets 2 senior manning events he's at 108 hrs for the month, yet all he did was work two additional days. 108 hrs yet still 21 days off in a 31 days month (20 off in a 30 day month). Of course not all get that. Senior manning events are hard to come by and due to the lucrative nature of it go to the most senior of pilots. But guys do get them. I use it to my advantage by bidding reserve. Because I know the whores will pick up as many SRM events as they can, I can predict whether they will use me for a flight. The result for me is usually 25-26 days off per month. By that I mean, I am on-call for some, but they never use me so I end up getting paid to hang out at the beach. This lifestyle is pretty predictable. This month, for example, they haven't use me once. I am in the middle of my 13-day off block right now so time will still tell but when I get back to work on the 26th they only have 4 days to use me. So I'm already at 26 days off assuming they use me all 4 days. If they don't use me at all then it's another 30 day off month. Why? Some of it is luck, I know guys who get called up almost every day. But some of it is the nature of the system. When they are short of reserve pilots for a given day or time window, they start SRMing... paying pilots double to come into work. Often times they will pay someone double just to keep me on the short call list, just to have me in their pocket for a crisis situation. Usually it's for a late night thing or early morning. Most times they don't call so I pulled in short-call pay that night while sleeping. While a colleague went in to work for double pay. I am only speaking for my fleet and base. I'm on a NB jet. The WB guys have an even easier lifestyle. But this works for me for now. The point of all this being, there are many ways to skin the cat of pilot productivity. The more you keep a pilot productive at work, the more days off he gets. Middle eastern and Asian carriers, and their pilots, still have yet to figure this out. In the West it's all about days off. We work out butts off when we're at work. We do that so that we can get more days off. At the end of the year we all average the same number of hours, 750-1,000 depending on the pilot. But in the West we get 5x more days off. It's high time you guys start raising the bar and figuring this stuff out.
As long as pilots show up for these pathetic contracts, said companies will continue to treat you like indentured servants.
Kuwait sucks. I mean it really sucks. I lived there for two years. You'll go mad with only 2 or 3 trips per year to your home country and 8 days off is not enough for that. You'll lose two commuting home, you'll lose two resting form the jetlag. So you'll get 4 days at home. Pathetic.
I still have many friends in Kuwait. With all the time off I have they're always inviting me to come visit. Ha. Kuwait? in my time off? Not even if you paid me.
Good Luck.
