Keep in mind things are always changing at EK. If they continue to struggle getting first officer applications they would need to keep the DEC going . If there is a pilot shortage the middle east would feel it the most . No longer as lucrative as it once was . But good luck to all Those that come, please do your homework and be honest with families if you have one. I'm leaving because Dubai and EK take a life out of you.
short flights long nights
I have to agree. 12 months away and my life is normal.Well except that I have two dogs who somehow know the time now. expecting a walk at 4 30 pm. If I'm late, they get frantic. How the hell they tell the time is beyond me.

This is the email that the DEC candidates due for an interview have received a couple of weeks ago:
"It is with regret we are required to advise you that Emirates has suspended vacancies for Direct Entry Captains for the foreseeable future.
With respect to your scheduled assessment, there are two options:
1. If you wish to continue with the assessment for consideration as a First Officer only, please attend as per your scheduled arrangements.
2. You may elect to withdraw your candidacy for DEC. This in no way jeopardizes future consideration for any assessment with Emirates.
Please advise as soon as possible of your preferred option. Please send your response to [email protected] you for your continued interest in Emirates. We look forward to hearing from you. Regards Emirates Pilot Recruitment"

Can't see how they'll get anyone at all.
AAR stated in that 'meeting' that manning levels are correct and pilots are going to be flying max hours - period?
So where are the commanders with long haul experience who will join knowing that AND be prepared to live in the middle east...?
The only guys I could see applying would be those FROM the middle east and they all already fly in the ME3.
I refuse to believe anyone in top management is unaware of the current problems. Maybe they just like a joke or two...
