Question Progressive glasses in Dubai

Hi guys,

I know it is not a rumor, but I'm looking for a GOOD place where I could get progressive glasses here in DXB, if it is actually possible...
Had quite a bad experience with one of those shops in MoE (and I'm not talking about the ridiculous price !), so please please, if you know a descent one would you share it with me ?
Many thanks.

Wait for an appropriate layover. Despite the gloss, nothing in Dubai is progressive....

I had good luck with this place. A german guy owns and runs the business personally.

Anna By Top Vision Optics

I've had consistently good service from this company. When it comes to price competitiveness, I can't say, but who wants to mess with their vision anyway?

They're straight up (in a professional sense at least) with very good advice.

They were recommended to me by a highly respected ex Fleet Captain (circa late 80's) and he was right. I used them for 10 years myself and wouldn't consider anywhere else.

As an aside, I went to Moorfields Eye Hospital in Dubai (trading on some London connection) as I required an ophthalmologist for another matter, yet they completely screwed up my prescription.

I can recommend an optician called Deepak at Sight Savers in Al Barsha. He has done 3 pairs of progressives for me over the years, and 2 for the missus, and been spot on every time. He is very thorough (takes about 45 minutes for an examination) but the glasses have been right first time around, every time.

The number is 04-3794733, it is in the building next to the Novotel/Ibis behind the MoE (the hotel with the Nandos).

Hi
I've use AlJaber optical at Mirdif city center (next to I store) I've had a number of pairs over the years both reading and sunglasses done and had good reliable service. Sadly progressives are not the cheapest but they've all been fine.
Good luck
regards
J

If your eyes are just suffering from old age, were you need reading glasses more than anything else, a great option is Hudsons in JFK, they do
Foster Grant varifocal Foster Grant varifocal
reading glasses that have less optical distortion at the edges than anything else I have seen. I got some 1.5's reduce down to not a lot, that are great for reading and landing. Only $30 a pop too

Bavaria

I can second Bavaria Optics. Very thorough and professional. Used to see Anna across the street at Top Vision for years, but since they remodelled the shop, prices have skyrocketed and selection of frames has gotten a little too artsy for my liking.
