Latest round of evictions to Meydan
Great news opened my the mail to be greeted with the Dear John letter, your whole life is about to be turned upside down so we can move you all into Camp Meydan.
This will affect about 50 Villas in total within my group with some guys only just recently moved in after being kicked out of their former homes.
Resignation total may well be on the rise again.
When will they get it into their thick heads that the money they save by sending us all to a glorified prison camp, will be spent many times over with A/c grounded due lack of crews/ additional training costs if they can find anyone dumb enough to come here in the first place, and further lowering of the little if non existent goodwill.

They have offered Camp Meydan Heights or( the yet to be even in a state to view) Meydan south, really how in God's name can you consider somewhere you cannot even look at. They have offered some other parts of town with the caveat that you may even get thrown out of there as well.
I've been with EK for nearly 11 years and been in Jumeriah for all that time, so well done EK you have just nailed yet another nail into the EK coffin, as it's now not if, but when I bail out of here.

The more I keep reading about EK, the more I feel a while back I really made the right move to pull my application! Whatever you do in this industry, you have to put your family first but EK in particular seems to make this significantly more challenging every year. Hope things change for the better for you guys.

Complex owned by Mazaya but to be honest unless you have your own property either rented or bought everyone will end up in either of the two Meydans at some point.
It seems to be their intent to stick all of us there under the guise of maintaining quality and standards and even cost. This is at a time when we are blowing gallons and gallons of Jet A1 out the back with a CI of 400.

Sorry to hear about your eviction Gardenshed. I guess you won't be needing a gardenshed at the new compound, since there is no garden.
We've been served notice as well some months back. Be prepared for frequent visits to the 7th floor. The whole department is highly incompetent, and useless. Go early, as by 1pm the only person there is vacuuming around empty desks. Emails and phone calls are not returned, so your only option is to go in person, and if (when) your allocated person is not there, you have to leave sticky notes on their desk.
As far as they are concerned, they are moving staff numbers from one excel sheet to another, and not uprooting families whose whole lives are turned upside down.
It's really a shame that this could be such a great place to work, but sheer greed and arrogance is making this a "stepping stone" carrier, and not a career airline.

short flights long nights
About empty desks. When I resigned, I was told to contact by email someone to inspect my villa. I sent emails to the address given time and time again. I rang the phone number given, over and over again, it was never answered. I was contacted, after I had left EK by said department, asking when they could inspect my villa. I told the man, any time you want, I left town a few weeks ago.
His response was, yes we are very busy, and you are not leaving the company are you? Just moving to Meydan?
I won't bore you with the rest of the conversation.

There is a simple solution to this- take the accommodation allowance instead. Okay, it won't get you a 5 bedroom villa in Jumeira and, horror of horrors, you might need to top it up out of salary but you will be happier, your family will be happier (maybe more important, that) and your life will be less stressful because you won't have to deal with the accommodation department. Sounds like a good deal to me.
900+ hours a year we can't do anything about. Where we live we do have some control over.

Better still fill out the pilot apps and get the hell off the Titantic.
Are you really going to stick around with all that is going on here?
What more are you going to accept?
