Fog Problems at AUH

Good article from The National (Abu Dhabi respected English language broadsheet) re the recent probems.
(It quotes an un-named EY pilot as a source but otherwise is not about the airline which must not be named. It is about the airport and the GCAA rules)

Fog procedures must be changed at Abu Dhabi airport, pilots say | The National

Seems the lack of ground radar is the reason for recent closures - if this is correctly reported. Can anyone confirm? If so, does it make sense to move forward with the major airport expansion projects unless ground handling facilities are also upgraded in parallel? Or maybe they are...... ?

Hope so - for the sake of the many PAX who suffered serious disruption to their travel plans last weekend.

At other airports, [.....], for example, the facility is equipped with only a Category I ILS, permitting planes to land at 61-metres visibility.
no comment needed,
